Re: "The Island" audio dropouts

I did not have it enabled. I ripped again and it did not report any messages other than to say that the forced subtitle track was empty and removed. I have not tried playback of this file, as I am checking the progress remotely, but since this would now be the 4th rip, it's unlikely to be any differ...

"The Island" audio dropouts

I'm having issues with the BD "The Island" and I was wondering if others were experiencing issues. On average of about once every 1-3 minutes, the audio will dropout momentarially during playback (as if it were dropping a single audio frame). The dropouts are never in the same place twice,...

Re: ...the story of the 2 black strips

According to the specs , there are crop parameters (search the page for crop). The issue is whether a player supports them. I've tried a few of them before and found players that just ignore the settings, but I haven't tried the crop ones yet. You should be able to set these parameters using mkvprop...

Ok, so it was unintentional. Thanks for the clarification.

Re: Version 1.7.8 Needs Newer glibc

Fortunately I've kept the archives around for every makemkv I've downloaded otherwise I'd be out a makemkv like others in this thread. It appears that the license allows redistribution, so if the author doesn't post 1.7.7, I may. I'm currently running Ubuntu 11.10, and whenever I get around to updat...

Re: PGS Subtitles MakeMKV & Handbrake

Thanks for the update. I re-ripped Avatar and the subs are better. Second, if a forced subtitle follows by one or more non-forced subtitles and only then by "clear" subtitle, MakeMKV will keep these (really rarely occurring) non-forced subtitles in a forced track. I'm not sure this is the ...

Re: PGS Subtitles MakeMKV & Handbrake

The reason that no one is finding any forced subtitles is that there aren't any. What movie are you talking about? If it's Avatar, there certainly are forced subtitles. See my post earlier where I gave the binary output of the compositions in the subtitles themselves. There are forced and non-force...

Re: PGS Subtitles MakeMKV & Handbrake

As for now, we have been working around this problem by, (as you discovered) extracting all subs and then durning handbrake encoding, selecting the forced sub title option, (though admittedly not a perfect solution) seems to work OK for now, (forced durations are not accurate but close enough for t...

Re: PGS Subtitles MakeMKV & Handbrake

In improving my player for the GoogleTV I had hoped that writing a PGS subtitle display mechanism would prove simple after successfully completing VobSub. I had the unfortunate experience of using a force-only rip of the subtitles from "Avatar" as my first test case. In trying to figure ou...
