No. It's a problem with the discs and/or drives.
And I was afraid of my problem happening....my replacement hasn't been shipped because it's "backordered". FFS

Re: The Abyss 4K
All of mine are in external vantec cases over USB 3. They work great.

Re: The volume key is unknown for this disc
Maybe your firewall simply ate the request and MakeMKV still thought it would at some point get a response and never logged it? Who knows. But good that you found it.

Re: The volume key is unknown for this disc
Yea so many people have DNS issues and/or ISP issues. I'm blessed to be on a fiber network that couldn't care less but I also use alternative DNS for my network. I've never had a problem downloading the hashed keys. But it's a real issue for many.

Re: The volume key is unknown for this disc
Ultimately you want to try to find a way to fix the issues you're having with downloading keys. I only partially glanced through but make sure debug logging is enabled in the settings. It might provide more of an answer. Additionally, one thing you can do is use the KEYDB.cfg file. See this: https:/...

Billy is the man. He sells very high quality drives so I'm not surprised at all on that one.

Re: Pioneer BDR-S13
The firmware can't be downgraded at present. So buying one on the open market is a very bad idea if you intend to use it for ripping UHD's.

Go there and look for a seller in your region. They should have them in stock with the proper firmware.

Re: The Abyss 4K
I'm sure there are some defective discs in circulation, just not enough to account for the almost universal problem in ripping this here. That was my point. You absolutely CAN'T be sure at all. You can share your experience as I have done, but you can't draw such a conclusion as to whether there ar...

Re: The Abyss 4K
I just checked on mine. I sent it out Friday. The return is "still in transit". I guess I need to go grab that fedex receipt and find out where the hell they think they're sending it to. EDIT: Oh they're hilarious. It was signed for on Monday. They better get that new one delivered asap.

Re: The Abyss 4K
^^ Check in the for sale part of the forum for a vendor in your location. They have Pioneer drives available. As for the anecdotal evidence, I'm the outlier in your observations. I have a bu40n, 212u, and 513u. Abyss failed in all of them. It also failed in my UB820. I'm still waiting for a replacem...

For me:
The Abyss: Read errors, waiting on replacement
True Lies: No issues with my Pioneer
Aliens: No issues with my Pioneer
So many are having issues. It's ridiculous.

I'm still waiting for my replacement but it would seem as of an hour ago when I checked Walmart has it in stock online.

Re: John Wick 4
You just have a bad disc and/or a drive that simply doesn't like it. It's nothing more than that.

Re: UHD FAQ
Going to add some information here that maybe will help people and can be linked to. People have been asking about the keydb.cfg file lately and how to know if a disc they have has a key in it. If you have PowerShell on your machine, do the following from a powershell command prompt: Get-FileHash X:...
