Re: "Aplication failed to initialize"
Assuming you're talking Windows here... Make sure you have the latest version downloaded. Next, either restart your computer, OR open the task manager, and find ANY running task with "makemkv" in its name, and kill it. Do NOT try starting MakeMKV until after the next step. Run the install....

Re: Windows v1.6.16 still says it is v1.6.15
Unfortunately, the eject button isn't the cause - it's a symptom. Even if you don't use the button, when whatever causes the issue happens, closing MakeMKV just doesn't close down the CLI. It doesn't happen as often as it did a few versions ago. For some reason, when the CLI program reaches the end ...

Re: Windows v1.6.16 still says it is v1.6.15
You probably did not make sure that the command line portion was stopped before doing the install. If you don't want to reboot your computer first (the usual way to fix Windows :) ), you can open the task manager, and find any makemkv tasks that are still running, and end them. Then, re-run the inst...

Re: Sgt Frog season 1 disc 1
Without reading the attached ZIP file, when the disk is being opened, do you see a lot of "Fake cells occupy XX% of the title - assuming fake title" messages? I see a lot of Funimation disks that had this "fake title" problem with earlier versions of MakeMKV, less so with version...

Re: Update to new version
Make sure there are NO instances of MakeMKV still running on the machine. There are some circumstances where the command line portion will not stop when it is supposed to - open the task manager, and make sure. As long as it is running, the CLI can't be updated, so you keep running the old version. ...

Re: [Request] - BluRay .mkv Titles
For what it is worth, DVD rips do not always make use of the disk title for file names - I only see that in 1 of every 10 or so disks.
MakeMKV does suggest the disk title as the directory name in "semi-automatic" destination mode, but only occasionally for me on the file names.

Re: purchase without registration/adress
You've got the problem even without leaving your address, if you use any form of electronic payment - it's traceable. In fact, if someone REALLY wanted to track you, they could try to get the logs of this server, and track you by the IP used to post your message. Do they also arrest people with Blu-...

Re: PGS Subtitles... yes again!!
From a "non-purest" standpoint, I have viewers that have no problem with the PGS subtitles in MKV files. Where it is a problem is when I want to use a format (like MP4) with tools that don't support them. Getting the tools to support the conversion is, to me, a more important priority than...

Re: MakeMKV doesnt see individual episodes--just the "play a
Romansh, it might be a bad idea, but it what was asked for.... ;) gtfoltz, once you open the file in Handbrake, you will see a range of chapters to encode. It defaults to all in the file. You can select the start and end chapters for each episode, then click "Add to queue" to put them in t...

Re: MakeMKV doesnt see individual episodes--just the "play a
That's a new one - I've had sets that changed from "all in one" to "separate episodes" between disks, but not one that had both on the same disk. I use handbrake because it does re-encode. However, you can tell it to use MPEG2 for the video encoding, and the output can be either ...

Re: Ripping MKV from ISO fails everytime 4GB file limit?
Are you running on a 32 or 64 bit Linux system? There are some libraries on 32-bit systems that won't work with file sizes over 4GB, no matter what the file system supports. And, if the file systems are mounted via a SMB share, sometimes a 4GB limit will rear its ugly head, because of the SMB networ...

Re: MakeMKV doesnt see individual episodes--just the "play a
This is because the episodes are all part of one title - I see it a lot. If you decide to watch a particular individual episode, it just starts playing from the appropriate chapter, and plays to the end of the title. I've usually just named the whole file as being "E01-07" when I rename th...

Re: Anyone doing anything with these?
Well, apparently the TESTDUMP debugging output doesn't kick in until you start to rip the disk. I set it up prior to opening one of the disks in question, but it generated no additional output. And, since the problem occurs during the opening scan, TESTDUMP won't help. I'll resubmit the standard rep...

Re: [RFE] don't exclude menus
It was my understanding that MKV format doesn't define a "menu". This was mentioned earlier in the week in another topic. Have you adjusted your minimum track length? The default 120 seconds excludes a LOT of "extras". I use 30, and get most everything except menu backgrounds. Se...

Re: Anyone doing anything with these?
Would the testdump be of help to you on disks that think the main title is a "fake title", i.e., when opening the disk ignores the primary titles, but shows all the extras? I'm referring to the two disks I've submitted reports on for each version since 1.6.3 or so, although I didn't do tha...
