Newbie Question - How to create a Full disk Backup in a Folder

Post by BluesRay »

Hello
Sorry for that newbie question.
I read that MakeMKV can create a full disc backup : it creates a folder.

But everytime I tried, it has created a mkv file

What I do
1- I insert a BD Disk
2- It Scans the disc
3- I have to select track(s)
4- It starts creating mkv file

What I want is a folder with the whole BD : a backup of the BD

I hope it's clear.
Can you help me ?
Many thanks for your help :D

Have you tried clicking on the "backup" icon, instead of opening the disk?

Once you open the disk, you are assumed to want individual tracks. But, prior to that, you can select "Backup" to back up the folder structure.

Yes, insert the disc and open MakeMKV (or vice versa), then click on the yellow folder icon in the top left corner of the screen.

As above, do not "Open" the disc using the big picture of the spinning disc in the middle or the backup option will be disabled.

Choose "Decrypt video files" if necessary (needed so you can play Blu-ray files directly from the backup folder).

Specify the output directory and click "Okay"!

To rip files from a backup, open MakeMKV and choose the "Open files" button (to the immediate left of the backup button), then navigate to your backup's BDMV folder and double-click on the "index.bdmv" file.
