Searched and couldn't find anything, when I updated to the new version and I use it I still get a warning "evaluation period has expired" etc. Where do I enter the registration key, can't find where to enter it. Why am I still getting an error after updating?
Thanks

Check system time, just encountered error myself and system time was off.

Edit
I was going to leave it at that but now that I'm thinking about it...rubs me the wrong way. DRM (no matter how basic) has no place in a beta. From the developers perspective I totally get the reasoning, it would suck to finish a product and then realize that there are untold copies of a near finished product available for free everywhere on the net. But that is thinking is just plain wrong, time and time again software success has come down to the service offered. People who want to pay will pay and people who don't won't, the point is to make a product worth paying for. My two cents is that seeing licensing in a beta is a sure sign that it is time to look elsewhere for a service.
After the part I hate I'd like to mention that the actual software is superb. I only use it to rip but as soon as I ran it I knew that this was EXACTLY what I was looking for. So please remember that you have a target demographic and that demographic knows how to google, what is the best product today may not be tomorrow. My point is 2 years from now you don't want me remembering your product as one that I have 3 steps to take each time I want to run, you want me to immediatly picture you GUI and know what I want to use (which is the case minus this latest revelation).

Sorry but this is not DRM. Most software app's that use a freeby, 30 day trial or professional package, have a registration key that limits or provides full facilities. In this case Mike has decided to provide a 30 day key update, so Yes you have to go and find the key every month (or purchase the package), but I don't find it THAT painful or are you saying that you would prefer Mike to say OK it is now out of ß and you must pay for this package.

Having used this package for as long as I can remember (yes I am getting pretty old!), I decided that as I use it constantly and depend upon it being around, I should pay the guy for his efforts so I purchased the package - so solving the problem.
When I look at the reasonably trivial apps that I have paid for on my IPAD, the cost is trivial compared to the benefit, I actually don't understand why Mike DOESN'T charge for Makemkv, it works.

So to answer the OP's question, copy the current beta key from
Code:
http://www.makemkv.com/forum2/viewtopic.php?f=5&t=1053

Open MakeMKV, click Help at the top, and choose Register. Paste the key in there and click OK. You might need to close and relaunch the program for the change to take effect. You can then click Help again and choose About to see your new registration details.

I'll add that I can't imagine why anyone wouldn't want to purchase this program. I recently did because I knew that one day it would not be free and I couldn't imagine not having it. That and aside from some rare cases with poorly mastered discs, this program just works. Does what it says it will and does it quickly. It's great.

Hi Everyone

I have recently updated MakeMKV to version 1.7.7 in Ubuntu 10.10. However I can't update the registration key because the menu option is disabled.... I have trying uninstalling and installing several times without success...

Does anyone has a clue as to why this is happening and how to fix it?

TA
