Yes, Brave rips fine.

If I recall correctly I did it the same way I did every other recent disney.

Insert DVD, have MakeMKV Open the disc (load it up, whatever you consider it)
Once the titles are loaded open up VLC (VideoLAN Client) and go through the menu for a normal widescreen playback.
Take note of the ACTUAL TITLE that VLC uses for playback.

Select ONLY THAT TITLE in MakeMKV.

Rinse and repeat if I want any of the extras (like the usual Pixar shorts)

Notes:
The dvd I ripped was from the dvd/br combo pack.

I can't rip this one either.
See attached picture for what makeMKV shows after scanning the Brave DVD...the tracks are not even labelled..there must be 20 or 30 of the 5.2GB tracks that show up.

I believe I need track 6...but again makeMKV does not show this.

Click on one of the items in the selection list, and in the Info pane you will get the track information including the segment map.

Why are there so many different items? There is no Bluray (max 47GB) that could hold so many files? I could understand that there are a number of different version for various camera angles. But this many? This is really confusing! How is one to select the right one?

I agree...I have never had a DVD show this many, and obviously it is wrong as the DVD could not hold this many tracks.

It only has the data for it once. The rest is all bs to stymie the people that are trying to back up their DVDs. Blurays have this too.

It's just a stupid method of copy protection that doesn't do anything but annoy the legitimate users, and isn't even a stumbling block for pirates.

Yep this is what I get as well, is it best to still have the skip seconds at 120? Also is it track 6 that we need to extract?

DVDFab shows it correctly, and track 6 can be ripped. The issue I have is then converting that Video_TS to a mkv has an audio sync problem.

Ripping directly with MakeMKV gives the other issue - all of those tracks and not sure which is "track 6"

That should be track 40. Look for the one that says 6.

Do we need to get DVDFab just to find out which is the proper Track (6)? Can we hope that this will be fixed in an update of MakeMKV?

Again Brave Rips Fine.

Follow the directions I had listed.

If you do not have the specific source title needed, check your log to see where the error is.
Go by MakeMKV's "Source title ID" under the Info / title information area.

REMEMBER titles will NOT always be in order as usually there are some removed (duplicates, faked, too short, wrong info, etc)

Also remember Disney has previously done runs with different "right" tracks on different runs. (IE my right track might be 13 and yours might be 7) This is why you should ALWAYS verify first what track you should actually be looking for instead of taking someone else's word for it, it takes a whole 30sec to open it up in VLC or any other player that will display the titleID to have it start the movie to tell you the source title ID you should be looking for.

Edit: Confirmed, Brave has different "correct" title IDs for different runs. My correct title was 14 so you DEFINATELY want to check this for yourselves.

Edit2: I've also found out that VLC actually has a known issue with Brave, it didn't effect me but will likely effect many of you. If so just use any software/hardware player that will display the title ID it's playing once you start the movie.

that seemed to work. I got found track 6 (from mpc-hc) and found it in makemkv. The audio sync issue is fixed now!

thanks for the help

one more quick question....I unchecked all of the other tracks but when you expand those tracks the audio/subtitles within them are still checked. Do I also need to go into each unchecked track and uncheck audio/subtitle boxes?

thanks
chuga
