New to this, drive recommendation I think my drive is too old.

Post by raymate »

Right now I have old LG drive BH12LS38

I figure it's much too old to be useful; it has ripped DVD and Blu-ray OK, but I want to cover 4K discs as I want to collect them soon. I also rip audio CDs with Accurip, so a drive that is also really good for audio discs is essential.

I assume I need to have a compatible drive with LibreDrive and not just a regular UHD drive; is that the same?

I also updated the firmware a few months ago, stupidly as it was 1.00, but I think it's not an issue as the drive is too old anyway.

Is this still a useful drive for anything?

Many thanks

No, it won't work, because it was built over a year before 4K came about.

(it will work for DVD and Bluray, though)
