Expiration and GUI segfault

Post by rvdboom »

Since my 1.8.9 installation had expired, I downloaded the 1.8.10 version as advised, compiled it then installed it.
Unfortunately, it still says the my setting is expired.
Since this tool is the only way for me to watch Blu-ray on Linux, I decided that nevermind, it was worth the purchase.
Going on the purchase page, I saw that I needed to fire up the GUI to register.
Unfortunately, although makemkvcon works well (and that's fine, since I use only this tool usually), the GUI segfaults and has been so since 1.8.9 (it worked in 1.8.7).
I use a Slackware 64 bits current.
Is it possible to have help there?
Thanks!

In the Announcements section, there is a message that has a key that will work with the older versions, OR you can set the date on your machine back temporarily to get them to run without updating the key.

There are messages about several Linux distributions giving segfaults because of changes to glibc version in recent distribution updates. I would assume that Mike is working on those.

Thanks for the answer.
Is there any way to add the key without the GUI, with makemkvcon?

Yes, on linux, the key is stored in ~/.MakeMKV/settings.conf. Add/replace the line

Code: Select all

app_Key = "[insert key here]"
On windows the same thing is stored in the registry as a string at

Code: Select all

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\MakeMKV\app_Key

Yep. That worked.
Thanks a lot.
I guess it's time to purchase a licence then. :-)
