Unable to open any DVD discs

Post by knappster »

I have tried 3 so far, Dark Knight, Casino Royale, and The Saint. Every one ends with:

Code: Select all

Failed to open disc
I was hoping to test this on DVD's before deciding if I want to get a BluRay Drive. Here is the full debug code for The Saint:

I have 1.5.1 beta for linux x64
I am running: Debian Lenny AMD64
Here is my kernel information: Linux AMD64-bit 2.6.26-2-amd64 #1 SMP Tue Mar 9 22:29:32 UTC 2010 x86_64 GNU/Linux
I can play these DVDs fine on my PC and I am in the correct region, so I'm not quite sure what I'm missing.

If you need any further details, let me know. Thanks for your help.

Please try the latest version, 1.5.2 . It will likely NOT fix the problem, but it will provide additional details abot the error. Please repost the log here. Also, try to add yourself to "cdrom" group.

Interestingly enough it is working in 1.5.1 today. I have rebooted since my post...
And just for documentation sake, my user was already a member of cdrom group.

Would it be possible to stream a dvd / bluray movie from a command line and wrap everything into a script that could be run by MythTV? My ultimate goal is to be able to play bluray discs on a mythtv box by just selecting a play button.

Thanks for your help.
