Makemkv fails to initialize in Linux Mint 18 latest release

Hi is anyone else out there having trouble with makemkv 1.10.2 using Linux Mint 18? I had it working in Linux Mint 17 but it fails to initialize in Mint 18. I have uninstalled and re-installed and even downloaded the makemkv files again but to no avail. It seems that version1.10.2 is causing some problems in some other distros as well according to some posts. Has anyone found a workaround yet? Any help at all would be appreciated.
Many thanks

I am having exactly the same issue.
I just installed Linux Mint 18 and did all the steps you reported including rebuilding and updating but it reports with "This application version is too old" dialog.
I had a fully functioning MakeMKV (don't recall which version - probably 1.10.1) with Linux Mint 17.3.

I'm having the same problem with Fedora 24 running Linux. I'm trying to run makemkv 1.10.2, but it keeps telling me that the version to too old, and I should download a newer version.

Help!

Did you put the new beta key in when you re-installed? The key in the application itself expired at the end of November.

Ah, very cool. Thanks.
I had never needed to install a beta key as upgrading did the trick.
I just followed this thread:

I guess come January, the beta ends?

Cheers.

I agree with the third comment about that...
