Ubuntu 8.10 64bit - gcc: error trying to exec 'cc1plus'

Trying to build on Ubuntu 8.10 64 bit machine, and keep getting this error:

gcc: error trying to exec 'cc1plus': execvp: No such file or directory

Any ideas?

you need c++ compiler to compile makemkv.
