Same problem here on Public Beta 3. 'Program has encountered a fatal error' !! Doesn't sound too good .

Hopefully sorted soon

This is bug in MakeMKV, not Apple FS or anything like that. Apple is evil, but not this time. The bug is fixed, the next version should be released soon. It will be 64-bit only, still 10.6 compatible but requires x64 CPU. The 10.6 is the last version one can run on 32-bit machine.

Its fixed in Beta 4, for me. So it turned out to be a bug in High Sierra and not related to APFS.

I've recently upgraded my Macbook to High Sierra official release and MakeMKV 1.10.7 doesn't detect my USB-connected Samsung SE-506 BD drive. Any input would be welcome.

This is the output I get from MakeMKV:

Code: Select all

MakeMKV v1.10.7 darwin(x64-release) started
The program can't find any usable optical drives.

The issue is that, when MakeMKV asked the computer, "list optical drives", MacOS said "there are none".

You can try unplugging the drive, plugging it back in, then starting MakeMKV again (it only asks on start-up). This resets the interface between MacOS and the drive, which USUALLY fixes this problem (also does it in Windows, most of the time).

MakeMKV can't work on my macOS High Sierra, so I want to try Pavtube, which claims that it is the best MakeMKV alternative.

DavidHOO, you're bound and determined to sell PavTube, aren't you?

Every message you've posted since you joined this forum is "MakeMKV can't do what PavTube does", even though PavTube started as a pirated version of MakeMKV. And when asked about whether or not they'd fixed that 'little issue', you've ignored the question.

There are a number of people here running MakeMKV on High Sierra, so you're issue is isolated.
