Question about subtitles

Post by drewmarasco »

Hopefully someone has the answer to this one! I am trying to figure out how to rip a Blu-Ray on my iMac that includes specific subtitles. For instance I am ripping a Star Wars film that will be played back in english. But in the movie there are scenes with alien dialogue where you see an english subtitle for one or two sentences. How can I ensure that these subtitles show up on my rip? I don't want the entire film playing with english subtitles! Thank you in advance.

You would ask this two weeks after I purged the BD copies of Star Wars from my working directory...

Star Wars does NOT use "flagged as forced" subtitles. My batch file for processing in handbrake used subtitle track 1 (English), "forced only", and came up with no matching subtitles. It is possible that track 1 WAS the forced subtitles track. I encoded the file to MP4 format, which meant that the raw subtitle track was not saved in the output; I'd have to re-rip to check that possibility out.
