I am about try try to rip American Grafitti. Not expecting a successful outcome, sad to say....

If it does not rip, then the fault is not with MakeMKV as I've successfully backed up this title. Per Blu-Ray.com, there is no new remastering of this title; repackaging yes but nothing more. Please post an error report if your copy does not rip.

I keep trying, but no luck. Eleven files were created, all trailers and interview segments.

The main movie... just won;t copy. I would be happy to purchase whatever external drive the collective wisdom of the forum would recommend. My Pioneer clearly isn't up to the task. Here is the error report log:

Do you have any device that is particularly SLOW that you can write to? Such as a USB2 flash drive? It would have to be big enough to hold the main feature, and be formatted in either ExFAT or NTFS.

Hardware read errors like you're seeing occur most often with drives exceeding their available power, but they CAN be caused by failing drives. And the program has no way to throttle its read requests to the optical drive, so it will try to read as fast as it can write. Slowing the write with a slow media MAY help.

Sure! i can try a USB drive tomorrow; thanks, I'll let you know what happens.

Interesting side note: The American Graffiti DVD plays fine on my Pioneer BR DVD player burner (USB) using the software that came with my HP PC, "Power Media Player." However, it will NOT play using VLC media player, which I thought was state-of-the-art!
