no dialogue or case of the silent movies

Post by saluki »

I recently downloaded makemkv and tried to use it. I am in the trial time of the software and managed to make one movie. A DVD. I tried to rip a Blu-ray and wound up with only partial sound. All the music and background sounds but when the characters spoke there was no sound. I tried eight times after that on both DVD and Blu-Ray all with the same problem. What am I doing wrong? This is strictly for personal use so if the problem isn't solved I guess that's alright. :?

Logs of what is going on during the rip are your friend... My signature has a link to how to do turn debug logging on and where to find the logs after they're made.

If the movies have a variety of sound tracks (and most BD movies have at least a couple of options), you might have ripped a track that your player software cannot decode. You can see what tracks are available, and tell MakeMKV what to select, by clicking on the little triangle next to a title in the left hand window.
