Re: General makemkv question re: debug messages

according to makemkv they do complete successfully.

i have not noticed an issue with playback.

it’s partially curiosity and partially wanting to ensure i have a bit perfect backup.

General makemkv question re: debug messages

Depending on the drive I use, I may see debug messages during the rip, either to folder or to mkv. The rip completes and appears successful. If I re-rip using a different drive, same movie, I don't see any debug messages. Should I be concerned over the debug messages from the first rip/drive combo? ...

Re: Disc fails on backup immediately with following errors

Closing the loop on this:

For reasons unknown, the directory on my NAS that I was attempting to write into had permissions set such that MakeMKV could not write to it. A simple chmod fixed that.

There is no issue with the disc or makemkv.

Cheers

Re: Ultimate UHD Drives Guide Updated 2019

Yep - it is strange. I have 4 drives now - two Asus and one LG that are BDXL compatible and then the LG NS60, which is official. I had one of the original NS60 with Firmware 1.00. I don't suppose the latest will work without a firmware patch/downgrade. The least amount of issues I have ever had are ...

Re: Ultimate UHD Drives Guide Updated 2019

Anyone ever experience one drive that fails to backup a disc while another works perfectly fine on same disc? I have a lot of drives; the most rock solid seems to be my WH16NS60 FW 1.00. The Asus drive I have is pretty solid but on occasion, discs just fail. Repeated attempts don't work either. Have...

Re: disc backup error msg - know what it is?

I will add that I am now seeing this error a lot.

Ralph Breaks the Internet - UHD and BD - repeatedly, full disc backup and remux to MKV.

No ill-effects detected and will assume this is just debug for some use case.

Reporting it in any case.

disc backup error msg - know what it is?

Backed up the Karate Kid UHD but saw 5 instances of the following: DEBUG: Code 0 at KzKn#WzdJHAB/m5p8:121266603 Curious what it means and whether or not I have a complete backup. MakeMKV reports it completed, but those error messages appeared anyway. This is a USB 3.0 ASUS BW-161DHT, Revision 3.00, ...

what are you all using for playback?

most (all?) software players i don’t think would support DV playback.

still image galleries - how to rip?

i've been pulling a lot of "extras" off my UHDs recently and there are several that are image galleries. if I backup every playlist identified by makeMKV, the image galleries never come through. playing the disc, it seems it is playing a multi-chapter video file, but i suspect something else is goin...

Re: Deadpool 2

this situation happens to me on a semi regular basis. disc cleaning sometimes works, though i wonder if it is really just a random occurance that the drive has trouble reading the disc. prior to uhd, i never had to clean a disc. i find switching drives to be more helpful. i have an asus and an lg, u...

Re: Attention. Ver 2.1 protection out

Your choice of course. Keep in mind: there have been two titles to date with AACS 2.1. Two out of how many? Any new titles don't seem to be continuing to use it. Who knows what will happen in the long run (well we do know: physical media will die). I suspect if you do care for 4k, grab the movies no...
