Re: Make MKV & subtitle checkboxes
Yes, you need to modify MakeMKV's user profile. (The following is copy 'n pasted from a post I made in another thread.) On your PC (see quote below for mac), navigate to C:\Program Files\MakeMKV and you need to open an archive called "appdata.tar" (I use 7zip to open this archive) then co...

Re: Make MKV & subtitle checkboxes
Okay, there isn't actually two subtitle tracks (as per your example above) on the disc, there is only the main subtitle track (" o language (=checkbox1) " in your words). Let's say this subtitle track has 1,000 lines. If you turn on that track in the disc menu it will display all 1,000 li...

Re: Way to see which subtitle track is "forced" before remuxing
You don't have to create an ISO to play the 'disc' in VLC. If you have a decrypted backup, simply open VLC MP and click on "Media>Open Disc", select the appropriate radio button ("Blu-ray" for example), and make sure "No disc menus" is NOT checked. Then browse to and s...

Re: Ripping everything on disk
Plex isn't going to replicate the menu system you have on the disc. You have to identify and set it up all manually, which can be very tedious. Your only option there would be to use the backup option, then find a player that will play either the BDMV folder or the ISO (create from the backup using ...

Re: [Feature Request] multiple languages and database support
i am germena, so i prefer the german audio and subtitle. but i also rip the english one as well. but i can only select one preferred language in the settings. would it be possible to add a second preferred language (maye even more by just hitting a "+" for next language)? would make it mu...

Re: Questions on Forced Subtitles
In the case of Star Trek: The Motion Picture Director's Edition 4K though, the Vulcan and Klingon dialog were definitely on a subtitle track. If I enabled that particular subtitle track in my player (Plex, VLC), I could then see the subtitle translations (with a different font than other normal subt...

Re: Questions on Forced Subtitles
Yeah, I noticed the different font used when either the Klingons or Vulcans were talking. Is this why they weren't marked as "forced"? I've seen other examples where the subtitles are in a different font, like some of the Disney sing-along titles. Some embed the sing-a-long lyrics in the f...

Re: Unencrypted Backup from Encrypted Backup
Yes, you can create an encrypted backup using MakeMKV, but why would you? If you have the disc in the drive, you would simply ignore everything above and make a decrypted backup instead! The above procedure is only necessary if you have previously made an encrypted backup and want to decrypt it. I ...

Questions on Forced Subtitles
I recently ripped Star Trek: The Motion Picture and noticed there were no subtitles during the Klingon and Vulcan scenes. I knew that it involved forced subtitles, but I hadn't really ever played with forced subtitles and just figured it was all automatic with MakeMKV. After doing research and readi...

Re: Way to see which subtitle track is "forced" before remuxing
Bugga, I thought that might be the case. Unfortunately, as I am going down 4K UHD path, there is no way to watch the movie(s) before hand as UHD playback is no longer doable on Windows. I guess I'll just keep doing what I am doing. Thanks for the reply :) That's actually not correct. You can very e...

Re: Unencrypted Backup from Encrypted Backup
I had a similar need and can confirm that the process works. Just make an ISO image from the encrypted backup folder using ImgBurn, then mount the ISO created by ImgBurn in Windows by double clicking on it. When you mount the ISO, Windows will create a virtual optical drive and assign a drive letter...

Re: Create decrypted backup from an encrypted backup?
Oh wait, I tried the original rescued ISO. I didn't create a new ISO from the encrypted backup. This might go along the same lines of injecting the discatt.dat into the rescued ISO, but I'll try just creating a new ISO from the encrypted backup.

Re: Create decrypted backup from an encrypted backup?
Thanks. Was looking in the wrong place. I am pretty sure I tried what they suggested and it didn't work, but I'll try again.

Re: Create decrypted backup from an encrypted backup?
FYI, I forgot to mention that with the Windows version, I mounted the rescued ISO in Windows, which makes it look like a disc so that MakeMKV would think its a disc, and then tried to create a backup using the MakeMKV Backup option. However, this didn't work, I assume because ultimately the disc is ...
