Okay, I found out the following: I can create such a folder, then the installation works.
But: Does it work as designed? Seems to be an error for me.

Problems with installation of makemkv bin
Hi all! I just ran into a problem installing makemkv-bin on my machine. A couple of months ago I installed version 1.9.3 without any problems. Installation of makemkv-oss just went through, but when trying to install makemkv-bin it says that it cannot change the priviliges on /usr/share/MakeMKV The ...
