Re: Installing and compilng MakeMKV

/usr/bin/makemv is correct.

go back to the directions and make sure you build both packages: oss and bin.

Re: I am trying to recompact the MKV files produced by MakeMKV

I recommend you use HandBrake instead of ffmpeg.

If you (like me) prefer the command line to a GUI interface, here's an
excellent place to start:

Re: Please learn how to distribute packages

I try not to say anything on a forum that might offend someone, but I can't bite my tongue on this one. Building makemkv for Linux is trivial. If you're not up to the task, you probably should be running Windows or MacOS. If you can't do that, get your distribution's providers to put makemkv in thei...

Re: Makemkv makes everything 480p

I suspect you are incorrectly blaming Plex and/or MakeMKV for some kind of (no offense) pilot error.
Many, many users, including myself, use Plex and MakeMKV streaming to all kinds of devices
with no problem whatsoever.

Re: Recovering from read errors in Linux

Doing this I was able to create an Image of Alita: Battle Angel with "only" 70MB corrupt sectors. Yet, I am unable to rip the movie with makeMKV due to 342 'HashCheck Errors". Did anybody experience similar and/or has a workaround for me to get that movie ripped? I'm experiencing the...

[SOLVED] 1.15.2 Application Failed to Initialize

Per Mike's help, on my CentOS 7 system,
I configured makemkv-oss like this: (adding CFLAGS="-std=c++11")

CFLAGS="-std=c++11" ./configure

and makemkv compiled and ran just fine.

Thanks!

Re: 1.15.2 Application Failed to Initialize

Yes, that's exactly what happened, but I don't know why (I am not a C++ coder). makemkv-oss 1.1.5.2 does not compile for me on Centos 7. I saved the output to a log, and grepped "error:" out of the log, and here's what I got: /libmakemkv/inc/lgpl/stdstring.h:67:29: error: expected ‘,’ or ‘...

1.15.2 Application Failed to Initialize

Running CentOS 7. I just downloaded and built Makemkv 1.15.2, and when I started the application, I get a popup saying
"The Application failed to initialize." I went back and rebuilt 1.15.1, and it's working fine.

I need some help/guidance please on what to do to upgrade to 1.15.2.

Re: Number of licenses

Additionally, if you ever want to upgrade the hardware on one (or both) of your computers,
MakeMKV will keep working for you (at least this is true for Linux, where I had to replace
the motherboard on my desktop), and MakeMKV didn't blink at all, it just kept working.

Re: Recovering from read errors in Linux

Can't I just tell makeMKV to ignore corrupt data and get everything ripped that's fine? No, you can't. MakeMKV will only succeed if it can read every bit correctly. Similarly, if you download a PCLOS *iso file, you need every single bit to be correct: there's no way to say "oh heck, that's clo...

Re: playback on PLEX skipping a second or two....

You'll likely get better answers if you post your question in the Plex forums. That being said, I don't know why you copying entire directory structures over instead of just the mkv file that MakeMKV created. When (if) you post your question to the Plex forum, you should explain what client you are ...

Double check that you didn't try to back up a DVD (instead of a Blu-Ray Disc).

Doesn't "subler" expect an mp4 or m4v (not a mkv) file as input?

Re: Original RAW MKV vs. Handbrake Recompression?

All the streaming services (eg, Netflix) use compression. Are you satisfied with the quality of Netflix? If yes, then Handbrake is a great tool, but does (as already mentioned) require a lot of CPU and/or time to process a movie. If no, then you'll have to pony up and buy more space. I don't think t...
