If I back up or try to rip it says one of the hash files is wrong. The disc looks perfect and plays fine in my UHD BDP but I boiled and cleaned it anyway.

Looks like I bought a bad version.

I had sort of skimmed it.... you are right re-reading it was the solution... I may be able to fix this.

Now the drive doesn't read any discs at all.

oh well... arrived yesterday, guess I'm sending it back.

1- Should I get something else ?

Hi, I have been a registered MKV user for years but UHD is something new for me. I purchased an WHT16NS40 which came with FW 1.05 and I put the 1.05MK FW on it. So far it's completed 2 out of 5 movies I tried to back up. (The Shallows and Jaws and it failed with Cars, Casino Royale and Jumanji welco...

I also tried to use this for Nerve. I installed an old version of PowerDVD 10 that I had license for. It said it needed an update to play the disc... and after the update it said it still needed an update to play the disc. I guess PowerDVD10 is WAY TOO OLD... DVDFab said 887 was still correct (for redbox) I used that and so far so good... Think I watched about an hours worth. Plan to watch it all tonite and see what's what. I tried to use the "how to find correct mpls" post for find the correct mpls, but the version I have of PowerDVD 10 won't ...

I used the "backup" option and hope it gets updated.

The forth time I cleaned the disc after getting an OK by Criterion to return it for replacement, I saw what looked like a short hair thin scratch on the surface.... Working it slightly with my thumb I discovered it was actual a particle of some sort that then came loose. The disc plays and rips fine...
