I've been using the LG BE16NU50 which is external. It's quite a chunky unit but it seems to do the job well.

Sorry to bring this thread almost back from the dead. I had the same problem and it was exactly as @Woodstock had said. This is related to the "Quiet Drive" feature. Pioneer do provide a tool for managing this on Windows and it can be found at https://www.pioneerelectronics.com/PUSA/Comput...
