Re: Are there separate settings for the mkv and mp4 output?

A tool like 'MediaInfo' would tell you what app ('Writing application') actually created the .mp4. Or, in Windows, Properties > Details.

Re: Easy way to determine which file on disc is which TV episode?

Probably not ideal, but 'Technical Specs' for each episode provides a runtime (they round up).

Re: Cannot open Bohemian Rhapsody UHD

Yes, dump should be sent to svq@makemkv.com .

BTW it is no longer necessary to manually download the key file. I has been automatic for a few MakeMKV versions now (as long as 'Allow contacting web server...' is checked in General prefs tab),

Re: StudioCanal Early Hitchcock Set

When did consensus on VLC become unfavourable? It was the go-to media player not all that long ago. Just my impression reading various forums. Simple, yes, because it includes codecs. Again, just my impression. I use Shark007 std codecs w/ his pre-tweaked MPC-BE/madVR. It's has rarely let me down, ...

Re: StudioCanal Early Hitchcock Set

It's screwy in VLC on my PC as well though. Maybe VidCoder has a setting for reading them and retaining them, then. I've never used it. I do know chapter markers generally have to sit on an I-frame so it has to be handled at the encoder level. Can't speak to VLC, but general consensus is unfavorabl...

Re: StudioCanal Early Hitchcock Set

I'm aware of that, but that doesn't explain what M and N are. As far as re-encoding, that means a) quality loss and b) chapter-point loss. Might want to contact LG support & see what they have to say? It's their player & it's neither a MakeMKV, not Emby problem. Admittedly, my eyes are poor, but I ...

So basically I can't ever watch these on my TV?
Without a deeper understanding of what offends the TV, I don't know. Possibly not in their original format? Handbrake (or VidCoder) could convert them to something the TV plays? Experiment... try one.

Re: StudioCanal Early Hitchcock Set

Really didn't think it was Emby. Rather suspected the TV player. My early experiments with Emby/SMART TVs indicated a problem w/ VOBSUBs, but in your case, the 'good' files have the embedded subs... so that's not it. Unsure what the differences imply, but obviously the TV has an issue with 'em. Base...

@d00zah: I'm in Australia, 99% of my DVDs are PAL. Everything else works fine.
Sorry. Gotta work on reading comp. Always the 1st thing to go... today. :(

edit: Do Emby media info reports for each region indicate any glaring differences?

Re: StudioCanal Early Hitchcock Set

I THINK the issue comes down to region 1 (60Hz) vs region 2 (50Hz)? TV may not be coping well with the PAL refresh rate.

Re: StudioCanal Early Hitchcock Set

Emby MAY be transcoding, in which case it will require time to 'catch up' (re-buffer) when skipping around?

When you say 'on my TV through emby', do you mean:

- via an Emby TV client app?
- TV player via Emby DLNA?
- EMC (Emby WMC client)?

Re: Playing 4K HDR Bluray RIP directly

Are you sure that I can I run 4K HDR Bluray .mkv directly from HDD by plugging it to the TV. Is there any requirement of software etc. Your HD TV needs to be connected to your computer to play .mkv movies. The TV needs to be compatible with your computer. You’ll need a third party player like Power...

Re: [OPINION] Price is too high

Anger, denial, bargaining, depression, PURCHASE? The 5 stages of capitalistic grief? A variation on the model, but sure, it could catch on. These appeals have cropped up occasionally over the years, but to date, the pricing model has remained unchanged. And now MakeMKV is on the verge of fully supp...

There's a thesis opportunity here... the Kübler-Ross model, as it applies to the expiration of the MakeMKV beta key?

Re: Feature Improvements

Also, I've been taking advantage of the "New MakeMkv Instance" feature in order to operate two disk readers at the same time. There needs to be a method to "pin" each instance to a specific drive. Often an instance will switch (or attempt to switch) drives while the other drive is already in use (f...
