Re: Any Reason to Keep AnyDVD

But, recoding the video would break the branching created for the original source, assuming the recoding software (in my case handbrake) could figure out the "combo" file generated by Xin1generator. There is no any special in the MKV created by Xin1Generator: Imagine a movie with the norm...

Re: Any Reason to Keep AnyDVD

Question re: Xin1generator How well does it work if you are going to post-process the file with something like handbrake, which recodes the video? I've experimented with MKV files that do branching (common segments like titles and credits stored in separate MKV files), and only a couple of players ...

Re: Any Reason to Keep AnyDVD

Personally, I'd rip both and determine which is "better" later. For these Blurays with different editions you can even have all of them in just one mkv file using the Xin1generator program. As it is described in the Doom9's Forum for that program If you have a Bluray with multiple edition...

Re: more than one large .mkv file

Not sure it would be useful... because MakeMKV already creates single MKV files from seamless-branching play lists. As far as I know, with MakeMKV it is possible to create a single MKV for each different version (theatrical, extended, etc.) included in a seamlessly branched Bluray. So, it you have ...

Re: more than one large .mkv file

For these Blurays you can use the Xin1generator program to create just one mkv file with the different editions of the movie. For example I have in this way a file with the different editions of Avatar movie, or a file of a Pixar movie including some texts of the movie both in English and Spanish (m...

Re: Editing MKV files in Adobe Premiere

When I need to cut a part of a MKV I use the MKVToolnix program: I load the mkv file and using the "splitting" I remove the parts I don't need. As no recodificación of audio and vídeo is needed, the process is quite fast.

Re: Best tool for breaking down a large MKV to smaller files

Thanks - I was thinking from the first reply it must be obvious and I was missing it. The problem of splitting with Handbrake is that this program does not allow a passthrough with video, so it is alwas re-encoded. If you want to split an mkv with MKVToolnix (which does not re-encode the video), lo...

Default names for chapters.

MKVMerge names the chapters in English (chapters 1, chapter 2, etc.) It is possible to change program behavious so by default chapters are names following a customized criterios, I.e. in Spanish as Escena 1, Escena 2, etc. I know the with MKVToonix I can change the chapters of a mkv, but I would lik...

Use the MKVToonix. By means of the GUI it is possible to split a mkv file in different files.

Re: Subtitles

In order to control the audio and subtitles to be includes in the MKV I wouldn't use the preferences of the program. Instead, and once the DVD has been loaded and examines, select the main movie and "unfold" it, so all audio and subtitles are listed. In this list you can select, playing a ...

Re: Question About Which Episodes To Rip From Blu-ray TV Ser

In these cases I use the Xin1generator program, once I get an unprotected ISO of the BR (since the previous program cannot work with original protected BR) This program generates the separate tracks of the movie (audio, vídeo, subtitles...), which can be joined with MKVMerge of MKVToonix. For each m...

Re: Forced Subtitles - ignoreForcedSubtitlesFlag="True"

I wouldn't say that it is VERY RARE to find subtitles flaged as Forced. Maybe in English subtitles it is true but in Spanish DVDs and BRs is very common. Although some times forced subtitles are in a separate track, more or less 50% of times are in the main track of Spanish subtitles, flaged as Forc...

As far as I know, the FAB folder appears when the bluray has been unprotected with the DVDFab software.

Re: Subtitles

When converting a DVD to MKV I use to load the DVD with the DVDSubEdit program, in order to check the content of each subtitle track. This program also provides information about if any subtitle track includes forced subtitles or not (subtitles with forced tag). If so, I extract these forced subtitl...
