Re: Inception

Make a test with version 1.12.2, because the 1.12.3 has some bugs.

Re: Suggestion: On-The-Fly Audio & Video Conversion

MakeMKV is a ripping tool and not a conversion or compression tool. Audio conversion is simple because a fixed sample and bitrate is used to convert from one to an other format. Video conversion is complex and requires decoding the video and re-encoding the video, customized by many parameters and p...

Re: M2TS or MKV

Movies are often separated into stream segments, each segment is a M2TS stream file. Trailer, Intro, Country specific titles, different movie versions (like Cinema or Director's cut) and so on. MakeMKV assembles all needed stream segments into one mkv file (done with the Playlist called MPLS). And y...

I am trying to rip the DTS MA soundtrack along with the normal non HD versions.
As told, make a try with deselected DTS MA and rip only the core non HD part. The core part has not 24bits per sample. If the same error occures, you can abort the rip.

Re: Death Wish (2018) UK

I think the "audio changes" is the main problem. The stream encoding changes from 24 Bit per sample to 16 bits. I think it is a trailer with 24bps and after 26sec this changes to 16 bit. An Blu-ray Player should handle this if different M2TS streams are used. You can check this, by creating a decryp...

Re: Scsi and OS Error

The data could not be read. All errors are in a small range (3.687.116.800 - 3.688.849.408 , means between 3687 MB and 3689 MB)

Dirty disc? Maybe it helps, if the retry value in the MakeMKV settings is increased.

Re: MakeMKV sees the Blu Ray Drive, but on the disc in the drive.

The disc is identified by Windows, not by MakeMKV. If you start the Windows File Explorer and a Disc is inserted, you must see after processing the drive with the disc name in the Drive-Tree. As long as this does not happen, MakeMKV cannot process the disc. Your described probelem sounds for me as a...

Re: Difficulty with subtitles

Blu-ray On Blu-ray a subtitle track can hold normal or forced or a mix of normal and forced subtitles. MakeMKV can process all of them, and can seperate (if the forced track option is selected) the forced flagged subtitles in an extra subtitle track. So it is always important that the "forced subti...

Re: Jumanji (1995) subtitle problem

No idea if the "missing" forced subtitle is part of a normal or an extra track, but an subtitle can be extraced and manipulated from an existing track Following step are needed: - Extract the subtitle track which have the forced subtitle as nomal subtitle flagged from the mkv file with mkvextract (p...

Re: Concatination of multiple angles

Yes, but it is not allowed to append different streams "layouts" due to mkv restrictions.

Never used multi angel (called Seamless Branching) with mkv. It's nice that you have a player for this, but I'm sure that not many Soft- and Hardware players support this feature.

Re: Concatination of multiple angles

What do you mean with "multi angel" video streams? More than one video stream in one mkv? Maybe this is possible (never tested), but makes this sense? I think no. Next problem is to have a playing software with can switch between video streams. Multiple Audio and Subtitle streams are no problem for ...

and point MakeMKV to that
There is no need to specifiy the path in the preferences, MakeMKV always find a standard java installation. You should remove it from the preferences, because if you install a higher java version you must update the path.

See my Post #4. The tool BDsup2sub can do this without OCR, because this is crap. I the eary years of Blu-ray processing I did this with OCR to Text and a lot of corrections. Never again!

Re: Mkv to Mkv and forced pgs subtitle

Since pretty much no BD is authored with items flagged as forced, forced subs are done with a separate stream of items that are not flagged as forced and as such not recognizable by MakeMKV. This may be true for US disc, but in many other countries Forced flagged and Normal subs are mixxed in one t...

Re: Mkv to Mkv and forced pgs subtitle

And also, this feature already exist : bluray iso to mkv ISO processing is the same as reading a DVD or Blu-ray. The structures and files are copied 1:1 (decrypted) from DVD or Blu-ray to the ISO file which is only another container like ZIP. So the later processing of the ISO data to create a MKV ...
