Re: Understanding Subtitles--Please Explain!

Rip all subtitle tracks for your language(s), figure it out with f.e. VLC, and use "MKVTollNIX GUI" to remove unwanted and reorder it and set flags (Default / Forced) and Name it (if wanted) and remux the mkv file. There is no other way.

Re: Do I need to keep a lossy DTS track if I have lossless DTS-HD MA?

No, the DTS lossy track is extracted from the DTS Master track and not needed. Each DTS HD track has always an 5.1 core which is separated as an extra lossy track by MakeMKV. But please note, an DTS HD Master track is very huge and needs very good equipment to hear the addional "sound".

Re: Possible to create decrypted UHD backup from encrypted backup?

I think this is not possible, because as you already told, if the backup is opened you see the disc titles like opening a disc and the backup option is not available. The backup works only with the physical disc.

Re: Subtitle and audio track naming

But if you use the 5.1 Core of a 7.1 track you will loose the back surrounds audio! It would be better to extract the 7.1 track and downmix it with an external tool. Don't miss it, I have only a 5.1 speaker setup. I think the 2 extra channels are not important and the downmix (I hate that) must it ...

Re: Subtitle and audio track naming

Does DTS-HD HR 7.1 or DTS-HD MA 7.1 contain a 5.1 or 7.1 Core? I tried to find that out, but I was not successful. Thats the reason why I did not remove the stereo track by now. If the separate 5.1 track is useless, why is it part of the Blu-Ray? DTS uses a good system. The Core (5.1) is always inc...

Re: Subtitle and audio track naming

Since I'm always using the same order I use the same logic. Very simple, no special naming or whatever. @mgutt For what reason do you save the 7.1 and 5.1 and stereo track? Or is the 7.1 the DTS HD Master? If you have an HD Master, there is no need to save the 5.1 Core, because the 5.1 Core is part...

Re: Splitting MPLS?

Can be done with "MKVToolNIX GUI". Go to the "Output" tab and use the Split by Chapters option from the list. Type the Chapter numbers before the split should be done in the list f.e. "5,10,15,20", after this you have 4 mkv files.

Re: Xbox One X VLC reports 0.00 for movie lengths

Maybe the DTS HD Master or TrueHD tracks which are unsupported? Don't know if the Xbox playback software supports it. All others looks okay. Don't unterstand why an HD audio track is needed to playback something on the Xbox. To hear the addional "HD" details, you must have 10K$+ equipment with 5/7 o...

What's about an Debug log to see what happens during the rip?

If it is a 4K UHD disc, this is the wrong sub fourm. There is a extra sub forum for UHD discs.

Re: Why Multiple English (Surround 5.1) Audio Tracks?

Audio tracks really are only a small fraction of the file size, so if you're not going to compress, removing an audio track isn't going to save you a lot of space. In case on an f.e "DTS HD Master track" the size can be 4GB and more which is approx 10-15% of the complete file size. The size for eac...

Not sure, but you posted something like "same error" in the "fatal Error - Program Aborted" thread? Now in an other very very old thread, with "similar issue" ... sounds confusing, same error? same disc? same issue? If you want help, please describe the problem always as good as possible (with log a...

Re: Despicable Me (Ich einfach unverbesserlich) - Which title / source file should I select?

Make a decrypted backup of the disc, go to the backup folder "Streams" and view the different stream elements f.e 00847.m2ts (for 800mpls) and so on. Easy way to find out which paylist is the correct one. After this open the "backup" (the index.bdmv file in the bdmv folder) with MakeMKV, select the ...

Re: Audio extracting

Can be done with an older Java Tool "Project-X" if the DVD is decrypted. Add all VOB files and Demuxx it and the Audio is separted. Other way is MakeMKV to create the mkv file and use "mkvextract" (Part of MKVToolNIX) to extract the audio file. Maybe there are more tools.
