Re: What are your playback setups?

I think I should point out that the Shield doesn't decode TrueHD/Atmos or DTS-HD, it only passes them through to your AVR if you have one. It can only decode non HD codecs (DTS/AC3/EAC3/etc.). Infuse on the Apple TV 4K is pretty good, as it will decode the HD audio, and output it as PCM for you.

Re: What are your playback setups?

I'm using Plex with a Mac Mini Server, and then either using my Nvidia Shield, or Apple TV 4K as clients. The advantage of the Shield is it can pass through the HD audio to my sound system, and supports PGS subtitles, but I think the picture quality on the Apple TV 4K is better. Haven't had any issu...

Trouble ripping Star Trek Beyond UHD

Hello all! I've been trying to rip my 4K movies, and have been able to rip all of mine successfully, other than Star Trek Beyond. I've tried two different copies, and both results in the same error, but not always at the same point during the disc (always during the first third though). The disc loo...

Re: 1080p vs 2160P

It's worth noting that PMP and mpv don't currently passthrough HDR information, as far as I'm aware.

Re: UHD drives

That's interesting... I have an LG BU40N (which doesn't have any UHD branding on it), but am able to navigate through the UHD discs in Finder (I'm on macOS) and was able to provide dumps. Having this drive, does that mean support for it will take longer?

Re: Question: Is MakeMKV legal to buy & use in Australia?

In Australia, defeating DRM or encryption on a disc is illegal. However, using MakeMKV for ripping your own personal DVD or Blu Rays that do not have any DRM or encryption is perfectly legal within Australia. There's nothing illegal about possessing or using the software for this purpose. Whether or...

Re: Supergirl series 1 bluray stuttering when ripped to pc

They're mastered that way. Same with DC's Legends of Tomorrow S1 and Vampire Diaries S7. I didn't run into any issues remuxing it though. MakeMKV corrects the obviously stupid form of copy protection. If you don't mind me asking, what version of MakeMKV are you running, or what did you use to remux...

Re: Supergirl series 1 bluray stuttering when ripped to pc

I've had the same issue with my rips of Supergirl S1 in Australia. I tried playing it back in Plex Media Player, but also saw stutters. In their error log, I can see 2016-09-26 22:17:05 [ INFO ] JS: [Timeline] playing, 865490/2717256 2016-09-26 22:17:15 [ INFO ] JS: [Timeline] playing, 875500/271725...
