Re: Backing up a 4K disk correctly
Did you set your drive to unlimited read speed? I can rip a UHD with my Asus drive in about 30 minutes.

Why do you need to do this? I can rip using a DVD with no issues.

Re: Application failed to initialize
Try running makemkv from the command line, it will show more errors and may give you a clue what's happening.

Re: Correct way to convert 4k HDR rips?
I recently got a bunch of 4k HDR movies and after ripping them my 1TB drive is about full. Usually with 1080p videos I re-encode them to make them smaller, but from what I've seen I can't use handbrake because it has an 8-bit internal pipeline. Is there any other software I could use as an alternat...

Re: Please learn how to distribute packages
I see that 1.15.3 is out, so I decided to waste several hours of my life installing it.
Once downloaded and extracted it took me 1 minute, 14 seconds.

Re: Please learn how to distribute packages
I try not to say anything on a forum that might offend someone, but I can't bite my tongue on this one. Building makemkv for Linux is trivial. If you're not up to the task, you probably should be running Windows or MacOS. I was almost going to say that in my response... The first build can be a lit...

Re: Please learn how to distribute packages
It takes about 2-4 hours work. ENOUGH IS ENOUGH. DO IT and stop wasting our time! Really, 2-4 hours of work??? Let's look at the real numbers. Done from my Linux Mint laptop (I didn't include download time, as you'd have to download regardless of how it's distributed): brian@auton ~/Downloads/makem...

Re: Makemkv crashes one first run when changing output folder
Hi, I have been "distrohopping" and whenever i install makemkv regardless if it is snap/flatpak, ppa or from source everytime on the first run when i change the default destination to semi-auto and home/user/videos folder. After either clicking apply or ok, makemkv will get freeze and crash. After ...

Re: Can't rip to another drive/mount point
Came across this thread while searching for a solution to the same problem yesterday. I figured out a suitable workaround in case anyone is still dealing with this: I can confirm this is not a permissions issue, it seems that MakeMKV is only "aware" of certain root directories no matter who owns it...

Re: Evaluation version expired?
Did you add the key to your .MakeMKV/settings.conf file? That's all that should be needed.GrampaD wrote: ↑Thu Aug 20, 2020 3:12 amnk, this is for the *GUI*. Re: Problem while working with BDMV
Did you try as I suggested to the OP and connect a monitor or use X Forwarding?
I've never used makemkvcon, but out of curiosity I gave it a try on my Linux Mint server and it works fine with 1.15.1.

Re: Windows doesn’t display thumbnail after DVD Rip
Plex has no problems with mkv support that I've ever heard of.
mkv is well supported. Complain to Micro$oft about their refusal to recognize it.But it starting to seem like apps that will play these MKV files are few.
