My mistake I read the spec wrong, I guess it's not a Blu Ray burner thanks for setting me straight.

Re: Cross flash UH12NS40 to WH14NS40?

Well according to LG both the UH12NS40 and WH14NS40 are burners as well as readers so it doesn't seem like it would be a problem. I have never tried this, I don't really burn anything but would like to try to. What software packager do you use for burning discs and more importantly what kind of disc...

Re: which drive should I buy???

The answer to this question is: ASUS BW16D1HT. If you don’t want to hassle with doing it yourself and live in Australia contact Marty McNuts. If you’re on the East coast of the USA see Billycar11 and West Coast USA or anywhere else in the WORLD (Europe, Asia, South America, even Africa) then I am yo...

Re: Deepwater Horizon 4k UHD not ripping

I have the same drive but as soon as I updated to Firmware 3.03, the drive was not able to load my so far only 4k disc (Ready Player One) anymore. Asus told me, that the drive would not be and never has been able to read 4k at all. After I downgraded to 3.02, I was able to read them again. I think ...

Re: Deepwater Horizon 4k UHD not ripping

I didn't have any problem ripping that disc multiple times. Almost seems like you managed to get two bad copies of the same disc but the odds of that I think are pretty high. I'm sure you've tried cleaning the disc and all that.

Re: Custom firmware

The sleep bug is really overhyped and in my opinion does not warrant cross flashing the drive and having it be picked up by MakeMKV as as an LG drive when in reality it’s an ASUS. Any speed difference is negligible all these full sized drives will ramp up and may touch 8.0X but then settle down to a...

Do we all agree that the sleep bug has not been fixed with the release of ASUS firmware V3.10?

Hmm, ok then, my answer won't apply in this situation but if there's an external drive involved it's definitely something to try :D

Re: The program can't find any usable optical drives.

The answer: and I explain this to customers all the time. When using drive in an enclosure don’t run makemkv until you’ve put a disc in the drive, closes the tray, and hear the drive start to read the disc, you’ll hear it making noise, like. 5-10 seconds after closing the tray. Then run MakeMKV it’l...
