Re: Batch / Command Line Conversion of SUP to SRT

Neat! How many of those .srt files do you need to manually correct after? I’ve found that for very small forced subtitles without any “unusual” words, Subtitle Edit is spot on. But throw in some place names or given names and it gets confused. Likewise, it likes to add spaces before punctuation. It’...

Steelbook, BW-16D1HT 3.01, no issues with all three discs.

Re: AACS 2.1 support

The mkv file format doesn't cover all features anymore that are available on UHD discs today. Especially DolbyVison and HDR. What doesn't mkv cover in HDR? DolbyVision is the only HDR variation that mkv can't handle. Nor does anything else pretty much (mp4 with limitations) and almost no streamer h...

Re: Makemkv 1.14.3 Install Issues (Windows 7 x64)

Makemkv installer doesn't appear to be signed. SmartScreen complained about it. In beta that's fine; for coming out of beta, signing the installer and the program executable seems mandatory to me. I know that comes at a cost.

Re: I need advice.

The i3-8100 was not up to the task of transcoding the video file. I bought an i5-8400 and it barely does the job. Thanks for sharing your experience. I'm a little surprised. One, there shouldn't be any transcode when streaming to a 4k HDR output device; two, when streaming to mobile, wouldn't the h...

Re: I need advice.

I was actually able to use the Plex app without issue. I'd expect you would. You're direct streaming, not transcoding. That i3-8100 has a Passmark of 8000, and built-in graphics. I'd expect you to be able to - just - transcode one 4k stream using CPU, should you want to stream to mobile. If your Pl...

Re: Heads up - Support for LG UHD drives

There's a BH16NS55 - but I think that's "UHD friendly", not UHD native, right?

The BH16NS60 I see for sale in Russia, Korea, Japan. Can't find it in Germany via Geizhals or Amazon (see https://geizhals.de/?fs=BH16NS60&in=)

Re: Pioneer BDR-2209 experiences?

What they said. I got an Asus 16D1HT and an LG WH16NS40 (cross-flashed) from a forum member, and they work great.

Full UHD drive would be the way to go once it's supported, the 16NS60.

Re: The Original "UHD Friendly Drive" Supplier - at your service.

Just got two drives, one Asus, one cross-flashed LG. They arrived quickly and well-packaged. Communication was swift, the entire thing completely painless. How does one say on the ebays? Amultiplusplusplus seller, would do business again.

Pioneer BDR-2209 experiences?

Update: Nope. Works great for regular Bluray; says it supports BDXL but I get "no disc" with UHD. Moving on. I ordered a Pioneer BDR-2209 before I knew that there was a science to getting an UHD drive. It's scheduled to arrive 11/6. Any experiences with the drive, good or bad? If I know it won't wor...

WH14NS40 - nope

Someone on these forums had success with a WH14NS40 and FW 1.02. There may be more than one version of that drive around. I was not able to read UHD discs with the WH14NS40 in this system. Symptom is "no disc" in either Windows or MakeMKV. Tested FW 1.01, 1.02 and then, since it wasn't working anywa...
