Re: Optical Drive not being found
Another related problem, check and see if there are zombie makemkvcon processes. If so, they will lock up the drive and when you run makemkv again it can't find any drives. Only fix I know is to use an external drive (buy a USB3 external case), and power it off/on. This will clear the zombies and ne...

Re: Don't create wget output files
Turning off the "Allow contacting web server for updates" under preferences does indeed stop the zombie wget processes. However, it doesn't stop the zombie makemkvcon process which lock up my Blu Ray drive. I've seen this for years, running under multiple versions of Fedora Linux, currently I'm on m...

Re: Don't create wget output files
I'm often getting defunct wget processes tied to makemkvcon, I wonder is this a related problem to what you are posting about?

Re: Optical Drive not being found
I came looking here because I had a similar problem, "can't find any usable optical drives". In my case, I'm using makemkv inside VNC (Linux, Fedora 29).
And the fix was "chmod a+rw /dev/sg1"
Hopefully folks Googling VNC, MakeMKV, and doesn't work will hit on this solution

Re: Fedora 29 Application Failed to Initialize
Just to note here, the way I was able to get 1.14.2 (and now 1.14.3) to run on F25 was to run F28 in a VM and install MakeMKV 1.14.2 there.

Re: How long to update new AACS? (Annihilation)
Makemkv 1.14.3 is out now and working great, reads AACS v68 discs, copied the Red Dwarf blu-ray boxset no problem!

Re: Blu-Ray Drive lockout
Well upgrading my Fedora 25 desktop, which makemkv is licensed to, so I can move from makemkv v.1.12.2 to v.1.14.2 is going to take longer than I thought due to some other things I'm running there. So, plan B, run makemkv inside a VM. Not sure anyone else is doing this, but it works fine, I now have...

Blu-Ray Drive lockout
As I said before, my LG WH16NS40 drive is locked out, won't read any BD's after I tried reading a disc with the v68 key and makemkv v1.12.2. So I moved the drive to another system and installed makemkv v1.14.2 and tried to read the v68 disc and it failed with the same "ILLEGAL REQUEST:COPY PROTECTIO...

What's the best drive to buy today? I was thinking of the ASUS bc-12d2ht or the ASUS BW-16D1HT

Re: How long to update new AACS? (Annihilation)
Yes I did submit it. I only see v66 covered by updates, I'm hoping for v68. My Blu-Ray drive is currently locked out, can't read any BD's until I update to v68. I'd be happy to test any newer/beta version on with my v68 BD.

Re: How long to update new AACS? (Annihilation)
I have a aacs v68 disc "Red Dwarf Series 1 - 8 Boxset BD". Any timeline when v68 support will be released?
