Re: Dolby Vision now possible through MP4 Mux.
Spent the last week or so making my way through the thread trying various things, and wanted to report another victory. I have an LG C8, a Yamaha RX-V685, and a 5.1 Surround set up. Using MakeMKV to do disk backup, ffmpeg to do demuxing, and mp4muxer to add ac3 or eac3 audio, I can play Dolby Visio...

Re: Dolby Vision now possible through MP4 Mux.
Ah thanks again grencola for summing everything up. So I guess for now we can use DVDFab to merge both DV video layers together into a mp4 container, then use mp4box to add the lpcm audio converted from truehd which is basically still lossless but without the atmos metadata. Now I only need to get ...

Re: Dolby Vision now possible through MP4 Mux.
Thank you for explaining. So if I understand correctly DV outside of a bluray container can currently only be muxed into a mpeg4 container. So either store both layers using dolby's mp4muxer or create a single video layer using DVDFab. no prob. that's correct, yeah. What's currently the benefit or ...

Re: Dolby Vision now possible through MP4 Mux.
Some questions: 1.If I select dolby digital plus for arc output, do you think the tv will try its best to convert the lpcm stream to a high quality 7.1 eac3 stream for my receiver? it should down sample the audio to its best supported format, but it would be no different than just choosing eac3 aud...

Re: Dolby Vision now possible through MP4 Mux.
I'm curious, were you able to create a DV mp4 without sound using dvdfab? Yeah you just deselect the audio track. damn! none of my profile 5 DV mp4 remux works on the appleTV ( mrmc or plex)... even the LG profile 5 demos failed to play, only the sound works. the only DV file that works is the LG d...

Re: Dolby Vision now possible through MP4 Mux.
If you store it in a MKV container, you will lose dolby vision and the dual-layer DV will play in HDR but the single layer DV won't play at all. and yes, dvdfab single layer remux is lossless, no quality loss. I just did one single layer mp4 remux with DTS-X, I wonder if mrmc support lossless audio...

Re: Dolby Vision now possible through MP4 Mux.
Nah it only supports single layer, using MrMC:RESET_9999 wrote: ↑Wed Aug 07, 2019 2:08 pmno, I have only the appleTV 4K but I don't think it supports dual-layer mp4 and I don't have dvdfab for the single-layer mp4.

Re: Dolby Vision now possible through MP4 Mux.
The problem that I'll have that I foolishly didn't think of is this: yes I have the stick and the C9, but I don't have a receiver that will pass through DV, only hdr10. So I have the stick attached to the TV. The tv does support eARC but my receiver doesn't. This doesn't affect me currently because...

Re: Dolby Vision now possible through MP4 Mux.
hey you don't have a fire tv stick 4k by chance do you? :) I have firestick 4k attached to an LG C9 if you want me to try a test file sometime. whoa cool, my new TV arrives Friday so I'm in between testing right now. I've read that the new emby beta app for it will do single layer dvhe.05.06 with 7...

Re: Dolby Vision now possible through MP4 Mux.
Hi yes, all the mp4 trigger DV and play fine with 7.1 lpcm on the TV and x700 player. my setup is: Sony X700 -----> Denon X3200W ------> LG OLED C8 ok cool thx! m2ts and mkv only play in HDR because there's nothing yet to author DV in these containers. I think the best solution would be in a .TS co...

Re: Dolby Vision now possible through MP4 Mux.
I'm using a Sony x700 with an OLED TV and so far, only the file with 7.1 lpcm works. When I make a DV mp4 with DTS-X, DTS-HD or even DTS, it plays in DV without sound. It doesn't even say '' audio not supported'', just like there isn't any audio in the file. btw, I watched two complete movies in Du...

Re: Dolby Vision now possible through MP4 Mux.
ok, i understood ARC is limiting me to only non HD sounds i will focus only to make DV with dts-hd (dts core in my case) or e-ac3/ac3 audio. Your method works very well. i already remade 2 dts-hd movies in 3 hours. if you get yourself an apple tv 4k running the latest mrmc beta, it will play those ...
