Re: BP55EB40

No. Unless the sticker on your drive says BP55EB40-NB50. I guess the other guys with NB40 were just lucky or had already the NB50 hardware.
You can still try an UHD disc if it works. But I doubt it.

Re: 1.03 -> 1.02 Firmware downgrade

Yes. Now since you flashed it with "enc" never use "enc" again. The flash would actually fail if you would do so.

I concur. Clean BD discs and especially UHD discs before you want to process them. Use a CD cleaning disc with tiny brushs regularely to wipe the laser lens.

Re: No disk inserted and various reading problems

You are detour in several ways..
Redfox account needed to see my guide with pictures.

If you don't want to burn discs that makes it easier.

As far as I know slim drives can be put in laptop drives or in enclosures attached by USB.
Be warned -slim drives only work with Makemkv!

Re: No disk inserted and various reading problems

Just to let you know. I bought 2 LG BH16NS55 2 years ago and flashed both to Asus. One of them died just 2 months ago and I replaced it with another LG BH16NS55. Flashed to Asus. These drives are not lasting long. They are excellent for backing up BD and UHD. They are bad burners for 50 Gb discs. If...

Re: No disk inserted and various reading problems

Billy and MartyMcNuts say that the slim drives are more reliable than the 5,25" drives. But these work only for Makemkv. If your drive is supposed to work not only with Makemkv you can follow my guide. But that's just a suggestion: https://forum.redfox.bz/threads/guide-for-flashing-uhd-drives-for-an...

Re: No disk inserted and various reading problems

There are 3 lasers and BD is the most sensitive. CD, DVD then BD. From most robust to most sensitive. Try the cleaning disc. If it doesn't work your drive is kaputt for BD.

Re: No disk inserted and various reading problems

The BD laser might be dead. Can you see anything in Windows Explorer if you insert the disc? If not most likely the BD laser is dead.

Re: No disk inserted and various reading problems

Yes, clean the discs the way you mentioned. Try again. Clean again. Try again. Stay on that firmware! Buy a CD laser cleaning disc. CD! It has samll brushes that wipe the laser lens. All lasers are co-positioned. CD, DVD, BD. If the lens gets polluted there are still chances that the drive reads CDs...

Re: Flashing back to original firmware from MK version

The best remedy is to clean the disc with liquid soap and warm water. Afterwards clean again with a microfiber cloth as used for cleaning glasses. 3.10 MK is the best / fastest version. I flashed both my drives to it. It's only slower when read errors occur since it tries to go fast again after retr...

Re: Flashing back to original firmware from MK version

Why do you want to go back to 3.00??? 3.10 is the fastest firmware for that drive and you can even reduce the rip speed in the registry if you want to rip slower, e.g. when a lot of read errors occur. If you still want to go backwards, I could send you 3.02 DE (Downgrade enabled) or 3.03 MK which ar...

Re: Ultimate UHD Drives Guide Updated 2020

Thanks for your answers Marty and Billy!

Well - I don't think that it comes across that way in the guide on page 1. Therefore also my misinterpretation. If possible, the guide should clarify this, e.g. with your examples mentioned.

yamahaman. I'm out now and will not support this thread any further. You provided too less information in the first place and only did by small slices. Re: flashing

That's your problem. Not all USB adapters allow flashing. If you have no other possibilty you need a different adapter. Need to say that you come up with that information very late. That would have been very obvious in the first place.
