Re: BU40n differences?

Is any LibreDrive information available for it? If yes, please post everything (except the serial number) and I'll tell you what you have. If no LibreDrive info on main screen, then do the following: With version 1.14.3 (important!) open any BD disc. Quit MakeMKV, look at log file. You will see the ...

Re: Makemkv 1.14.3 Install Issues (Windows 7 x64)

Well, MakeMKV is signed in a sense that you can verify authenticity of installer files with a free open-source tools, by using a hash file - http://www.makemkv.com/download/makemkv-sha-1.14.3.txt .

Re: Firmware downgrade using official (patched) flasher, the "Ultra hax0r guide"

Back to BW-12B1ST from MK firmware pack or to official unpatched FW from ASUS site. You have an NS40 (or even NS30) drive, it will not read UHD discs ever.

Re: Beware : New official 3.10 firmware for ASUS BW-16D1HT

Version number 3.10. Dated 2019/03/08. Thanks for heads-up! The bad news - this firmware has an additional downgrade check, it will not accept the downgrade to 3.03 or any other DE firmware. The good news - this check can be bypassed, and a compatible MK firmware can be made. Stay tuned and do NOT ...

EDIT: Just tested. Flashed 3.03 and then used another product to test its "friendliness" and it's able to decrypt a UHD just fine. So, yes, in this case, MK 3.03 does restore friendliness to that drive. Awesome :)
Amazing. Thanks for the info!

Re: Custom firmware

I guess a clarification question I would ask is the case of the ASUS BW-16D1HT. 3.03 makes it unable to read UHD discs and your patched firmware restores that ability. Since it has no AACS 2.0 capability, would flashing the patched version restore "UHD friendly" nature of the drive without downgrad...

Re: Unrestricted Read Speed: Possible, Not Yet Enabled

Is there a list or post that contains examples of current production drives where the answer is: Unrestricted Read Speed: Yes It would help my buying choices. One day, hopefully sooner then later, an update will be pushed that will turn this option on for any LibreDrive compatible drive. This is a ...

Re: Custom firmware

That depends on what you define "friendly". Traditionally "friendly" drive was drive that could: - read UHD (BDXL-ROM) discs - read AACS2 metadata from such discs using AACS1 keys (host certs). LibreDrive does not equal "friendly", although it just happened that all "friendly" drives are LibreDrive ...

Re: Disable LibreDrive until my drive is actually supported

The "v4" LibreDrive firmware (SDF file) had an issue that could in theory cause an old 1939 drive to malfunction. This is fixed in latest SDF, you should have no interference anymore. Still, the version 1.14.3 has an option to completely disable LibreDrive library access for a specific drive (or all...

This version is explicitly supported. Do you get "downloading latest SDF" message? Is "allow contacting web server for updates" enabled in preferences?

Re: Help an idiot with a 1st gen WH14NS40

Glad it worked out! There is another (last-resort!!!!) option for NS40 models. The ASUS-BC-12D2HT-3.01-WM00900-211711151926.bin from https://www.makemkv.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=19&t=19113&p=71880 is a firmware for NS40 hardware. It MIGHT work in NS40 WH14NS40 models. I never tested it myself, plea...

Re: ASUS BC-12D2HT

Now there is one more option available. You can flash 3.01 MK firmware. It won't do magic and make your drive UHD compatible (hardware is not there) but it will make your drive LibreDrive compatible - meaning you will read any BD or DVD disc forever and won't worry about AACS revocations or bus encr...

Re: Firmware downgrade using official (patched) flasher, the "Ultra hax0r guide"

That is technically correct. Mike will add support for the NS60 1.01 firmware (and BU50N whatever firmware that's on) soon and then you won't have to worry about downgrading the firmware. He has not given any time frames for that support, but, given that he already supports the NS60 1.00 firmware I...

Custom firmware pack with LibreDrive patches

Fundamentally, in order for LibreDrive to work, the drive should allow modification of drive microcode in memory. At the time of this writing LibreDrive mode is enabled for about 200 different drive/firmware variations. For most drive models and firmware versions no action is required - the firmware...
