Re: Help with subtitles
Thanks. Since my first-choice streaming / player box has been having issues lately in recognizing the presence of attached storage (that it formerly handled routinely), I played a nearly 3-hour MKV film through the BR deck's USB input the other night. Subs were needed occasionally for a language tha...

Re: Help with subtitles
Thanks. Yes, various media players have been involved for the playback. Or sometimes the USB input of a BR deck which supports MKV files. I've now started to routinely inspect the checkboxes, prior to doing a run with MakeMKV, but as you indicated that is apparently not sufficient. If I was using VL...

Re: Help with subtitles
I guess I'm maybe even more confused than before. Just ran another job -- multi-Ep Blu-Ray disc -- after which I went back and checked the job settings. ALL subs had been checkmarked. Confirmed that the subs are there to optionally display, when played back with VLC on the computer. Yet when I playe...

Re: Help with subtitles
I'm thinking that Post #2 above may have the info I was looking for, as I was at a loss to understand why MakeMKV wass "throwing away" subs I knew to be present. I had not ventured beyond default settings. With some jobs the EN subs would come through, but in many others they seemed to just get toss...

Re: What do you do when you just can't get a disc to rip and return/exchange isn't an option?
I don't know if this might be of any use (or is otherwise permitted in this particular forum), but a user review on VideoHelp said that for a (rare) disc processing failure using MakeMKV he did have success using BDtoAVCHD, which is free. It's usually good to have some "Plan B" to fall back on. In m...

suddenly getting this "missing" Java DLL error
That "vcruntime140.dll" cannot be found. I looked, and that file is indeed present. MakeMKV seems to have ground to a halt, as a result. The only change I can think of that could be involved here is that there was a Java version update, a week or so ago. If MakeMKV has now lost track of this, how to...

Re: Continued failure to update or run MakeMKV
Thanks for your reply. I'll take a look through the Event Viewer and see if anything jumps out at me. If anything, I'm leaning in the opposite direction: being deeply suspicious of MS updates, I've lagged considerably behind on applying them. In particular, I distrust their monthly "Rollup" basket o...

Continued failure to update or run MakeMKV
on a particular W7U x64 rig, that once ran earlier versions of MakeMKV without a problem. I've been intending to write you about this for some time, only now getting around to it. My results were detailed in this thread on VideoHelp https://forum.videohelp.com/threads/393430-An-issue-with-updating-i...

Re: Feature Request: Do what you do without Java
Portable apps do not make changes to the Windows Registry by design. Though it is optional to change the registry if you want a file extension to automatically use a portable app. I've been a user of portable versions of the major browsers for some time now. I could be wrong about this, but my stro...
