FWIW I find that using AnyDVD to handle RPC and running MakeMKV on top of that works the quickest for DVD discs. For BR disks, I just use MakeMKV.

This kind of discs fails in most cases, because they are special (see you message about the file system). Do these require a DVD player with dedicated firmware to playback, or can they be played in any standard DVD player? Just curious - I thought the only specific protection was use of the region ...

Buffed it out, but didn't make any difference and it seems to play in a DVD player with no problem. Ordered a new DVD, but suspect it may be a mastering error or something makemkv hasn't seen before. Strange, as it's not a newer title.

The disk is pretty clean, but I do see a very fine linear scratch on one part of it. I'll pick up some plastic polish today and see if I can buff it out.

Coincidentally, I happened to be ripping my Bond MGM/UA box set yesterday. No problem with any of the discs, including The Man With The Golden Gun. You might try a different drive. I find that switching between my DVD burner and a BR burner sometimes works as they have different lasers/calibrations....

I'm having the same problem with the I'm Alan Partridge DVD. Track 3 (Title 2) gets all the title, then fails. Tried with multiple optical drives and multiple destinations, with and without AnyDVD.
