Re: Strange behaviour with hunger games catching fire

That kind of 'playlist obfuscation' is thing on some movies now, especially on discs from Lions Gate. (The Hunger Games movies are from Lions Gate.) Because you have Java configured, MakeMKV made its best guess as to which playlist is the right one (but it may not have been correct). Fake Playlist t...

Re: Bourne Identity UHD forced subs.

If you're on the web interface, click on the movie title to go to the detail page for the movie… there should be a drop down list next to subtitles (assuming the movie has any subtitles). plexsubs.jpg If you're on the TV interface, it is probably also on the movie detail page somewhere; at least it ...

Re: Bourne Identity UHD forced subs.

In Plex I usually just pick the forced subtitle track in the UI and it remembers my choice.

Re: Dolby Vision Rips Playback with Apple TV 4K?

Never say never, of course… but in general I think the way MakeMKV stores DV data in a .mkv file is pretty well set. Myself, and I think a lot of posters here are waiting for and hopeful for some future player that just plays DV .mkv files without any fuss.

I know of no reason not rip your UHDs now.

Re: Converting Dolby audio tracks to plain stereo

It doesn't surprise me that Windows introduces black on the left and right of your '3 projector' setup. When all three of those 1024x768 are setup together, they produce a window that is effectively 3072 pixels wide and 768 high. That ends up being a ratio of 4:1; it is 4 pixels wide for every 1 pix...

Re: Which drive enclosure should I get for the BU40N?

I have the OWC case, and it is designed to hold your drive external to your computer and connect via USB. Internally, the drive connects via SATA to a little board in the back of the case. The pictures of it from OWC's website and/or the manual should make it more clear. https://eshop.macsales.com/i...

The Robe ( https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Robe_(film) ), from 1953, was filmed in CinemaScope ( https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/CinemaScope ), which was a single camera, single projector system, albeit one that used anamorphic lenses and allowed for an image much wider than what was common at the ...

Re: Need help with LG BP50NB40 blu-ray drive

Is your drive in an external enclosure? Can you power it off (or disconnect the power cable), wait a few seconds, and power it on again? I have occasionally seen drives get into a weird state; the thing that brings them out of it (usually) is to force the drive to cold boot.

Re: Attempting to flash in macOS

You must have a preference for accessing menus and whatever special features there are on the disc? Personally, I find getting rid of the menus to be a benefit. I prefer to rip the movie to a .mkv file and leave the rest behind. Some stuff I further compress to 10-bit HEVC or h.264 files. In any cas...

I have successfully copied (to an ISO image) the film '1917' from a UHD disc…
Out of curiosity, what do you do with the ISO? Do you have a player that plays ISOs?

I don't know why, but it didn't happen for 1.15.4. Others have pointed out the same thing.

If you can return it to Amazon, that's probably the fastest and easiest.

Re: WH16NS60 in Mac Pro 5,1 Not Playing 4K Blu-ray Discs

I've never tried to play a 4K UHD from the disc; I've only ever ripped them and then played the resulting .mkv file. Does that work on your system? I have been able to occasionally get regular blu-rays to play via VLC, but it seems to depend on how complicated the disc's menu is. Simpler ones seem t...
