Re: ASUS BW-1601HT best firmware

I'm using the MK 3.10 firmware on mine and it works great. Remember it must be the MK version of it found in the Custom Firmware thread at the top of this forum. Some of us have noticed improved reading of triple layer discs with that firmware. I'm glad you got the BIOS sorted out.

Re: ASUS BW-1601HT best firmware

My gut is still telling me something is wrong with the drive. That error when trying to update... Just doesn't feel right. This sata port that it's connected to... It's set to ahcpi in the BIOS right? It's not set to ide I hope.

I'm going to take a stab in the dark here and guess you have that thing in some sort of USB enclosure, yes? If so, what it is?

Re: Cant Rip certain discs

No, it's a firmware for the LG NS60. However, these drives are mostly the same internally and can be cross-flashed. So it doesn't hurt to try the NS60 1.00 DE firmware.

You'll find it there. ONLY flash the MK version of 3.10.

Re: Cant Rip certain discs

That sounds like a bunch of BS to me. I've NEVER heard of that and I've been around a while. If it were me, I'd flash it to at least 3.02. I just looked on Newegg the one that said that is gone now but I have seen a seller that said they lock the firmware so it can't be updated, I didn't believe it...

Re: Cant Rip certain discs

I'm having issues ripping certain discs. I have the Asus BW-16D1HT with the firmware locked at the 3.0 UHD friendly version. I have ripped 4TB worth of 4k movies so far. But a few dont work. Red 2 4k doesnt even get recognized that it's in the drive by the program. And various others fail to RIP ha...

Does this MK 3.10 make any difference as far as compatibility with reading disks? I keep reading that firmware upgrades do nothing as far as that goes.
It does in this case. A few of us have noticed much better reading on triple layer UHD's.

You are indeed. :) The keys are automagically downloaded for quite a few versions of MakeMKV now. You do not need to download any hashed key text files anymore.

Re: BluRay ripping fails since installing v1.14.3

There were 2 versions of "3.02" released by ASUS, much to everyone's annoyance. The first one was indeed still UHD friendly. A few weeks later they re-released it and that version was not. In any case, at this point in time there's literally no reason not to use the DE firmware collection OR the MK ...

Re: Aquaman

https://www.makemkv.com/forum/viewtopic.php?p=73187#p73187 Read that post. The DE or MK firmware will work either way so you can decide. Neither will brick your drive. Either of the flash tools will work, as well. They use the drive's built in update method so no need to worry about that, either. Th...
