Re: Dumb question ?
I always backup my discs (and keep those backups) and I've wanted the option to create a disc image from Blu-ray and UltraHD discs since I started. I've read that it can be done with ImgBurn if you have LibreDrive active in another window but I can't make it work for some reason. ~ Rip to folder and...

Re: Is there a simple way to view the content of PGS subtitles?
Thinking more about this, obviously it would be difficult to "split" the two languages as an image-based subtitle file because both lines/languages would appear on each image. I say "difficult", but not impossible... Within SubtitleEdit, you can go to: File > Import > Blu-ray (.s...

Re: Is there a simple way to view the content of PGS subtitles?
I've never seen a subtitle file like that.
If you could you extract an example from an .mkv and upload it to a cloud somewhere, I'll take a look and see if I can figure it out?

Re: Makemkv is useless
Sounds like he is talking about sending dumps for new UltraHD discs and having to wait for the keys to be added.
I agree the system is flawed, but it's the only option we have for ripping UHDs at the moment, so it is what it is.

Re: 2000+ rips on my 8 drive NAS
Hmm... Okay, we're at cross-purposes then. I'm not just trying to build a media library, I am trying to convert my physical media library to digital mainly for the sake of convenience (being able to organize and play it via Plex). I still own everything I've ever ripped, it's just that I have boxes ...

Re: Creating new subtitles for a film?
I don't think I've ever downloaded a subtitle that didn't need at least some correction or resyncing, but it's a heck of a lot easier than starting from scratch (IE. transcribing an entire movie or TV series). Obviously it's difficult to find a subtitle that was created on the exact same file as you...

Re: 2000+ rips on my 8 drive NAS
When I say 36 bay, I'm actually looking at a Synology RS3621RPxs 12 bay NAS with two RX1217RP 12 bay expansion units attached. I mostly like that it's scalable, so I can buy the NAS first and add the expansion units as needed, not to mention the options of 16GB RAM, an M.2 adapter card and dual SFP2...

Re: 2000+ rips on my 8 drive NAS
All of my NAS drives (without exception) are Western Digital WD161KFGX 16TB Red PRO 3.5" 7200RPM SATA3's. I don't like to mix 'n match brands etc. and I know there are better drives available but I feel the 'reds' are more than good enough (and more than expensive enough) for my purposes. (Touc...

Re: 2000+ rips on my 8 drive NAS
~ I strongly recommend StableBit's Drivepool (https://stablebit.com/DrivePool) ~ It's Windows only, however, but not sure if that matters. ~ Thanks for your reply. When I talk about swapping full drives for fresh ones, I'm doing this on a Synology NAS, which I believe runs some flavor of Linux (?),...

Re: 2000+ rips on my 8 drive NAS
Not sure what's going on with this thread, the OP disappeared yesterday and now it's back, but heavily edited? ~ I'm instead looking to hire a remote assistant who can do ripping for me. ~ I'm not looking for the work (Lord knows I have enough of my own to go on with), but I'm interested to know how...

Re: 2000+ rips on my 8 drive NAS
I started-out digitizing my optical media library with an 8TB WD NAS, and I thought "I'll never fill that up". Then, once that was full, I bought a Synology 4-bay NAS and loaded it with 16TB drives (the largest drive on the compatibility list), and I thought "I'll never fill that up&q...

Re: Region A blu ray rips
Open MakeMKV Under "LibreDrive Information" (in the right-hand pane), if it says "Status: Enabled" then you can backup and/or rip discs from any region. Otherwise, it depends on the region setting of the optical drive. Most drives allow a small number of changes from new before t...

Re: Creating ISO with MakeMKV
Some discs use Java, some don't. It depends how the disc was authored.
If the disc menu was written in Java then yes, you need the Java Runtime to use them. I don't know of any way around that requirement.

Re: Creating new subtitles for a film?
The best subtitle editor I've found is "Subtitle Edit". Download here: https://github.com/SubtitleEdit/subtitleedit/releases It will OCR pictographic subtitles to text allowing you to edit, resync, etc. And it will also create pictographic subs from text files, or even allow you to compile...
