Re: DTS-HD MA - Why are MA and Core both selectable ?
As I said, we are lucky the author of MakeMKV is not as presumptuous as you are.

Re: DTS-HD MA - Why are MA and Core both selectable ?
I see nothing presumptuous about trusting a well known and respected company like DTS when they have clearly dictated a global standard. Wow, it is hard to believe someone who "builds software for a living" would make such a naive statement. Have you really never encountered a case where ...

Re: DTS-HD MA - Why are MA and Core both selectable ?
Fortunately, the author of MakeMKV is not as presumptuous as you are with telling people what they need and how compatible all players are.

Re: DTS-HD MA - Why are MA and Core both selectable ?
2. Rip with BOTH the top level MA checkbox and the nested Core checkbox checked: Produces an MKV with TWO audio streams, the first being the full DTS-MA track as per point 1 above, the 2nd being the DTS 5.1 Core track on it's own. This situation is redundant and is the scenario that caused me confu...

Re: DTS-HD MA - Why are MA and Core both selectable ?
I believe the confusion arises because MakeMKV will never create an MKV stream with just the "residue" which makes up the difference between the lossy core DTS track and the full lossless DTS-MA audio track. I guess (but don't know) that the reason MakeMKV will not create such a stream is ...

Re: Why does the read speed take so long to reach max?
I mean, it slowly increases the speed and see if it would produce errors. Until it would reach the maximum potential speed. That is not true. With every optical drive I have done a rip with, it starts at the maximum speed it is capable of (for the current portion of the disc), and only reduces the ...

Re: Why does the read speed take so long to reach max?
If the drive is running in CLV or PCAV mode, it will change speeds at various portions of the disc.

Re: Why does the read speed take so long to reach max?
Most drives can read single-layer blu-rays faster than dual-layer blu-rays (by spinning faster), so you will probably hear more noise from SL than DL. But most of the changes you hear are probably just PCAV changing the rotation speed at various portions of the disc. Here is a decent explanation of ...

Re: Why does the read speed take so long to reach max?
That is how optical drives work. The throughput is higher on the outer parts of the disc.

Re: Oz the Great and Powerful - 3 titles
Right, that is S.O.P. for Disney titles -- three playlists, and the differences are usually just in the language of the title credits.Jon Walker wrote: 800 appears to be English, 801 French, and 802 Spanish. (E.g., check title credit at about 45 seconds into each version of the movie.)

Re: How can I view the skipped titles?
Sometimes there can be multiple copies of the correct playlist. I have not seen MakeMKV get it wrong when it says playlists are equal. So, if you are correct that 665 is the one you want, then 76 should also work if MakeMKV says it is equal to 665. However, note that you could be wrong that 665 is t...

No, it is not. 12x is only for burning. Reading is slower.xreyuk wrote: Like I say, the drive itself is rated for 12x.

I'll also recommend the LG WH14NS40. I've had it for a few months and it works fine with MakeMKV, and it is fast. It also does not come with rip-lock, and so does not need to have firmware flashed to remove rip-lock (as several older LG models do require). By the way, just noticed this thread is in ...

Re: Burning MKV to Blu-Ray Using Ubuntu 12.04
It says there are tools to go from MKV to blu-ray. It does NOT say that MakeMKV does that.
I'm not sure why you are so confused. The program is called MakeMKV. It is for making MKVs. Simple.
