Portable Pioneer Drives Japan vs. US vs. Europe...
I was wondering whether portable Pioneer drives are basically the same in every region they are sold... I noticed that the lettering is often changed, i.e. the BDR-XS07BUHD becomes the BDR-XS07UHD or BDR-XS07TUHD and the corresponding firmware is named differently in Japan vs. the US/Europe as well....

Re: Pioneer firmware update February 2023
The successor to the BDR-XS07B-UHD has been out in Japan since last November or so. It's the BDR-XS08MB-S and I imagine it will be released in the US before too long... Its firmware was also updated today and it went from version 1.0 to 1.1 (Libre to not so Libre anymore I presume...) I had tried to...

Re: Pioneer BDR-XS07TUHD & Firmware 1.02
Thank you, Billy! That's a shame...
I will need to wait for a fix hopefully becoming available then.
This only affects UHD discs though, right? Blu-ray and DVDs should still be ok?

Pioneer BDR-XS07TUHD & Firmware 1.02
My current Pioneer BDR-XS07TUHD came with FW 1.01 and worked great with LibreDrive on my Mac. Unfortunately, it 'experienced' water damage (don't ask... :( ) and needed replacing... The new one is on its way but I believe will come with Firmware 1.02 which apparently was released on December 21, 202...

Re: Duplicate Blu-ray back-up with encryption removed possible?
Thank you very much for the info!! As long as you keep the discatt.dat file, which MakeMKV creates in the main directory, then you can. If not, BlurayTestAndDecrypt eventually can be a good help (which also will need aacs keys, but they can be downloaded). I would definitely keep the discatt.dat fil...

Duplicate Blu-ray back-up with encryption removed possible?
Hi guys, When making disc back-ups, for DVDs the ‘Decrypt Video Files’ option seems to always be checked and cannot be turned off (is this correct?) but for Blu-rays both options are available. What is was wondering is the following: If I back-up my Blu-rays with the encryption, can I later create a...

Re: Pioneer Slot vs. Top Loading & Scratches
Hi Asmcom, the drive was manufactured in February of this year, and yes, I just sort of carefully tap the discs and they get pulled in no problem. I had a closer look last night though, and it seems the scratches only happen with DVDs and not with Blu-rays... I guess they are just so much more delic...

Re: Pioneer Slot vs. Top Loading & Scratches
I really appreciate your feedback on these drives and I think it must be a fault with my unit. I just didn't know whether I should ask for a replacement or return it and instead get the top loader to be on the safe side. I've only got until Friday to decide but you've made me feel comfortable about ...

Pioneer Slot vs. Top Loading & Scratches
I was wondering whether any of you who own the Pioneer BDR-XS07TUHD slot loading drive noticed any scratches on your discs? I've been having some problems and can't be sure whether it's the mechanism or whether they've maybe come into contact with the slightly angled edge of the slot intake where th...

Re: Pioneer BDR-XS07TUHD Hardware Region Lock Workaround
Thank you very much, I will try the MakeMKV/VLC suggestion when I get home this weekend!! I thought that this might work only for Blu-ray and also that each time I would use a DVD with a different region, it would still use up one of the 5 tries I get before the drive region locks in hardware... I w...

Pioneer BDR-XS07TUHD Hardware Region Lock Workaround
I just received my Pioneer BDR-XS07TUHD and am planning to back up my DVDs and Blu-rays with MakeMKV. I believe the disc region is not an issue with MMKV as it will just grab all the data and not play anything back. In addition to the backups, I would also like to be able to play the actual discs on...

Re: Backup to Hard Drive Integrity Question
Thank you so much for confirming! And yes, losing everything once has made me really think about how best to protect my library going forward. I will mirror the backups to a second drive and replace both of them every few years. That way I will have the original discs, two backup drives as well as e...

Backup to Hard Drive Integrity Question
During a recent move I lost my entire DVD & Blu-ray collection, built up over almost two decades. I am trying to slowly rebuild my library and this time I want to make sure I have back ups! I’ve got a MacBook Air and just ordered a Pioneer BDR-XS07TUHD drive which I believe will work in LibreDri...
