Re: Where does the GUI get the "Disc Information" from?

Some of the strings that MakeMKV prints there seem to come from: makemkvgui/src/scsiinfo.cpp but I've just grep'ed that and haven't really looked deeper where it comes from (respectively whether it even comes from the open source part). I'd also like to see that information in makemkvcon... and a --...

Re: FYI: AACS v2 talk at 37C3

Hard to say... I'm no expert. The convener said something (at 52:05) about patches for libaacs, but

Also interesting, at 53:02 there's a v2 MK an v2 PK ;-)

FYI: AACS v2 talk at 37C3 (with v2 MK and PK)

Hey.

Just for those who're interested: there was a talk about breaking AACSv2 at the current 37th CCC congress.

Cheers,

Well, guess I'm just a perfectionist, when it comes to archiving O:-)

Re: how can one create a UDF image from a UHD (with dd+makemkv on Linux)?

Well it has, but from an archival PoV that doesn't make much sense. If I create the a new UDF from the copied single files, then I can also just keep those copied files. Making a fresh UDF won't give me and new information. What I did however meanwhile was: I diffed the dd-image with the plain files...

how can one create a UDF image from a UHD (with dd+makemkv on Linux)?

Hey there. I have a LibreFriendly drive, and backing up UHD BluRays from MakeMKV works quite nicely. I even registered/bought it, not because of the recent free key expiration ;-) ... but simply because I think that tool should be supported and especially also because of it's nice Linux support. No ...

Re: makemkvcon failing to backup

Sure that the disc id is the right one? I had the very same errors, when the disc ID was 01 (instead of 00, which was the internal CD drive)... oddly enough, even with 00, the disc from the external bluray drive (which is actually 01) spun up.

Re: OT: is there some starters guide for (BluRay) 3D for the home cinema?

Well I guess 3D TVs might indeed be dead (and I guess given that screens are per se rather small, this was a dead horse from the beginning)... but seems there are still many projectors and headsets/glasses coming out. So I wouldn't particularly call it dead... there are still new movies in the cinem...

OT: is there some starters guide for (BluRay) 3D for the home cinema?

Hey. Let's pretend I'm an idiot[0]... is there some starters guide about 3D for the home cinema? I mean I've made now some backups of 3D BluRays with MakeMKV, but don't have any 3D hardware, yet. I'd be interested in pros&cons of various systems, like 3D TV (which, AFAIC, are rather out of fashi...

Re: Directory Structure for Backup

Interestingly, I have two BluRays that use (according to MakeMKV) BD+ (I have none with BDJ), one with "AACS v18, BD+ v2010.9", the other with "AACS v16, BD+ v2010.3". Playing back an unencrypted backup (made via MakeMKV) of them (with just mpv, KEYDB.CFG, libaacs but no libbdplu...

Re: Directory Structure for Backup

And for playing the right (although already decrypted) files in the right order BD+/BDJ s still needed?

how does one get missing keys for KEYDB.CFG?

Hey there. I have a BluRay, which MakeMKV can already read, but plain libaacs + the well-known KEYDB.CFG can't. It's the 4th disc (i.e. bonuses) from Avatar 2 3D (all other 3 discs of that package have their keys already in KEYDB.CFG). Can one somehow get the key from MakeMKV or how are keys usually...

Re: Directory Structure for Backup

I wondered. When one has already decrypted the BluRay structure (i.e. MakeMKV backup with decrypt checked), shouldn't BD+ and BDJ be gone by then and shouldn't one have a plain M2TS stream that one can play back with anything?

Re: ssif.smap-to-ssif tool

Uhm I'm not exactly sure what you mean by example and search term?! The purpose of the program is simply to re-generated the *.ssif files from the *.smap files if someone wants to do that for whichever reason - and if it's just to archive an exact backup of the BD, but not wanting to store the origi...
