Is there a way to check the firmware version on a Pioneer Drive when it's still factory-sealed? I found a couple for sale locally (not a retail store like BestBuy, etc.), but they obviously will not let me open and install them to see from the computer manager.

I am thinking of buying one of the flashed Pioneer Drives. I know it says it works with AnyDVDHD and MakeMKV, but does it also work with other ripping software (DVDDecryptor for example).
