Any idea when MakeMKV can be purchased ?

... on this forum for all the advice. After I laid the groundwork by reading carefully this forum, everything for me went very smoothly. I bought a LG BH16NS40 in an OWC Mercury Pro enclosure. Thanks Marty

I am assuming I can just override existing firmware...i.e. just flash on top of the 1.05 I have now?

Re: New PC build came with BH16NS40 - safe to patch?

Yes, cleaning the discs is usually the first step to resolve these issues. Also, I suggest using a better firmware such as WH16NS60 1.02 from the MK firmware pack (in the old folder). Essentially anything but staying on 1.05. The newer firmwares majorly suck. On your current firmware, the sleep bug...

Re: New PC build came with BH16NS40 - safe to patch?

You should clead all UHDs before inserting. Even brand new and looking pristine. Wash with warm water and liquid soap. Dry with paper towel. Wipe then with a microfiber cloth e.g. the ones used for cleaning glasses. Try again. This is not a clean disc issue. 3 discs in a row is a bit of a coinciden...

Re: New PC build came with BH16NS40 - safe to patch?

I think this clean the disk thing is an overly used comment and not accurate in 90% of the cases.

Re: New PC build came with BH16NS40 - safe to patch?

Hi @MartyMcNuts Sorry for revisiting this post but i finally flashed the firmware for the drive today using your tool, checked the encrypted option - flasging worked and i can see MakeMKV recognising it as flashed, however i tried 3 4K disks today and the first one came with lots of reading errors b...

Re: Can I flash LG WH14NS40 1.05 directly to Re LG BH16NS40 1.03

No. You need to flash the LG compatible drives for ripping. This is a must.

If you want to burn the rips reliably you also need a Pioneer drive later on.

Re: Can I flash LG WH14NS40 1.05 directly to Re LG BH16NS40 1.03

I want to be able to do both, but at this point I may just settle with creating new 4K Blu rays (burning) which I don't believe requires flashing (if that feature even works at all).
