Re: Old (2016) Asus BW-16D1HT firmware update

... Just buy a new drive!! Anyway, if you must, before you get it, make sure the firmware version is 3.xx and the drive platform is MT1959. If it is MT1939 and the firmware is 1.xx, DO NOT TOUCH IT!!!

Re: LG WH14NS40 2012-05-15

... 3 years before the spec for UHD was finalized, so UHD is out of the question. It's also using the wrong chipset for updating beyond regular BDs (MT1939), so it's best to simply leave that drive to doing simple stuff. Now the search begins for the "perfect UHD drive"!

Re: WH14NS40 "Boot" can't be upgraded

The Ultimate UHD Drives Flashing Guide makes pretty clear that if your drive is from 2015 or older and/or has the MT1939 platform that you should leave it alone. I'm pretty sure the latest versions of the SDFtool try to detect when a user is about to flash a drive that's too old ...

Re: Ultimate UHD Drives Flashing Guide Updated 2023

I am a newbie and have bought an LG drive: BH 16 SN40, Rev. 1.03 with the MT1939 drive platform. Firmware (v. 1.03) is displayed as original (unpatched). Can I flash this drive and with which firmware? I would like to flash an MK-firmware. Is that possible? ...

Re: Just grabbed an old revision WH16NS40, will I have any issues?

... Drive, BDXL, M-DISC Support, Black https://a.co/d/65Wnt7a Not if it is manufactured before October 2015 and MakeMKV shows the drive platform as MT1939. If it is manufactured after Oct 2015 and the drive platform is MT1959 then yes.

Re: Just grabbed an old revision WH16NS40, will I have any issues?

STOP!!!

Versions of LG WH16NS40 manufactured before ~Oct. 2015 are too old to support UHD (HW predates the standard). MakeMKV will report " Drive Platform MT1939".

"Drive Platform MT1959" is required for UHD.

Re: Ripping error

... very likely would've bricked your drive. For others reading this thread, do not try to flash firmware meant for a MT1959 platform drive onto your MT1939 platform drive. It won't work and will probably make your drive inoperable with no hope of recovery. :) Power cycling the drive, jostling it ...

Re: Ripping error

... rip. If you try to rip the disc with a more modern optical drive with LibreDrive enabled, then it'll rip. Your ASUS BD-12D2HT with drive platform MT1939 is older than the more modern drives which have a MT1959 drive platform. So if I understand you correctly, it isn't strictly necessary to get ...
