Re: Changes Aspect Ratio

Just checked, only the first three Bonds have black side bares because they are in approx 1:1,66 aspect ratio, all others have no side bars because most of them are in 1:2,35 (black bars on top and below).

Re: Changes Aspect Ratio

I'm talking about black bars on the sides as the thread creator. MakeMKV does not change the content.

Re: Changes Aspect Ratio

I'm sure that there are NO black bars inside the mkv file. To add this, MakeMKV have to re-encode the stream from the Blu-ray, but this does not happen. VLC has also some tricky options for zoom, Aspect etc.

Re: Unable to rip 5.1 or 7.1 audio off of blurays

What audio tracks are selected in the expanded title view? If the Blu-ray can be read, there is no reason why tracks should not be copied.

Did you verify your assumption with f.e "MediaInfo"?

Re: Night At The Museum Closed Captions Issue

I am familiar with the concepts transcoding/re-encoding (i think some people use the term "muxing") to all convey the same process... Re-encoding has NOTHING to do with muxing. Muxing means, that different stream files (video, audio(s), subtitle(s)) are packaged together without modification into a...

Re: Night At The Museum Closed Captions Issue

I just want to be able to direct play my movies with the forced subs that apparently Blu Ray players can handle just fine! :P Blu-ray player passes an "Video Signal" via HDMI to the TV. This means, decode the video stream and put them in the output buffer and overlay it with the subtitle and send i...

Re: Night At The Museum Closed Captions Issue

Keep in mind I am ONLY doing this for movies with forced subs for foreign language scenes, so there should be minimal effort required to do this, I just don't know what software package to use, or if one even exists... I'm a little bit confused. There is no tool and no way available to do this with...

Re: Dolby True HD problems with Creed 2 and The Nun

Most of the TVs accepts only Dolby Digital 2.0 (max DD 5.1) or PCM 2.0, but not the enhanced formats like normal DTS or DTS HD Master or Dolby Dgital True HD. These formats are only playable meaningful with some AV Receivers with a lot of speakers connected. I would say, it makes zero sense to use t...

Re: Mary Poppins Returns?

Only an MPLS (a metadata file which describes what should be assembled together from the different M2TS file segments) can have chapters, an M2TS file is a stream segment without chapters.

Re: Night At The Museum Closed Captions Issue

is it possible to "burn" a subtitle track into the video stream without compressing the video stream? "Burn-in" means, the video must be decoded, the subtitle is put (overlayed) into the videobuffer, and the video is re-encoded. Compressing means always re-encoding with losing some information (see...

Same file, same content. The fist one is the MPLS which should always be used (selects the right audio and subtitle tracks), the other one is the pure segment stream.

Never burned a Blu-ray, but on DVDs the creating Hardware (Recorder) or Software must finalize the medium to use it on other components.

Re: Error - End of File Marker

Maybe the home made Blu-ray is not finished/closed and/or have set the wrong size for the file and now the software requests data beyound the real file size.
