Re: Splitting .mkv files

Then I moved to the Output tab. I asked for Part I to be "split based on timestamps". I put in time stamps, 0:00:00-0:01:14,0:01:14-0:12:39, et cetera. If you hoover over the timestamp input field, the syntax is shown. Do not specify "from-to" timestamps, specify only the timestamp for the split. I...

Re: Burn MKV back to DVD

What is the best way to burn MKV files back to DVD's? To create a "working" DVD playing in any DVD player? No idea which tool can do this, means creating a DVD structure from an MKV file. I tried it in the past by extracting the tracks as element files and add them to an DVD Authoring software but ...

Just downloaded it from https://www.fosshub.com/MKVToolNix.html (passed from https://mkvtoolnix.download/downloads.html). No problem to get and install it.

Re: Warning message about DVDFab

Incorrect aspect ratios have nothing to do with DVDFab or MakeMKV. This are mastering errors of the DVD. The aspect ratio is set in the IFO file and in the stream. A have had many (most are older) DVDs with this problem. The IFO file is okay (16:9) , but the stream itself is flagged wrong (4:3). DVD...

Re: Splitting .mkv files

Can be done with "MKVToolNIX GUI". Go to the output tab and select "Before chapters" and add "all" or specific Chapter numbers.

Re: DTS Audio Question

Any DTS HD track (Extention of the Core) includes an DTS Core 5.1 track, that's the reason my MakeMKV shows the selection to extract the DTS MA (uses much more space) and/or the DTS Core 5.1 track. The Label is only a literal Name, no idea why the text is always "Surround 5.1". You can change it wit...

Re: Frozen in spots

You wrote nothing about the playing soft- and hardware. For me it sounds like a "buffering problem" during reading the stream data.

Re: Can't find picture in picture? Don't skip duplicate titles?

Never used this PiP feature, but form my experiance I would say, this is included in an subtitle stream. I have seen subtite tracks during test and verifiy with pictures (still frames, no moving video). Subtitles are an overlay picture (text or whatever).

Re: Subtitles won't display with Serviio -> Sony

As far as I know, DLNA (UPnP) supports only VOBSUB (DVD) and not HDMV/PGS (Blu-ray) subtitles. Solution is to convert the HDMV/PGS subtitle(s) with the Java tool "BD Sup2Sub". Extract the subtitle track and use in the java tool the output format "SUB/IDX" and remux the new track with MKVTollNIX to t...

But once you rip out the Core track at the time of ripping, you can no longer produce Core-only files in the future.
The DTS Core is the base for DTS MA extention, so the Core part is always available and can be extracted later from an DTS MA track with different tools.

Re: MakeMKV Missing Chapters from Schindler's List DVD

MakeMKV has trouble with many DVDs and I think the development of the "DVD part" is stopped since some years, because there was no enhancement within the last years (f.e Forced subtitle extraction like Blu-ray and so on) You can try to open the DVD with the manuall option and specify title and the i...

Why so complicated?

MPLS 800 has segment map 1984,1985,1986
MPLS 801 has segemnt map 1984,1987,1986

Make a decrypted backup, go to the backup folder, subfolder BDMV/STREAM and view the twi different files from the above MPLS 01986,m2ts and 01987.m2ts

but I still wind up with an output file that just says "English" 3 or so times, rather than "Main", "Descriptive", "Commentary", etc. The streams has no specific indicators. The selction of what is played is done over the Blu-ray Menus and you know, every Menu looks different. I don't think that th...

Re: Bad DVD

Hardware players jumps over read errors and ignores the part. If you cannot create a "error free" copy, this error (or other errors) are also on the duplicate.
