Re: Firmware downgrade using official (patched) flasher, the "Ultra hax0r guide"

[/quote] I did try your suggestion, but after jumping through many, many hoops it felt like, I did manage to get my drive patched with the downgraded firmware. As I'm a newbie to Linux I'll post to the Linux board to explain what I did and hopefully be of help to others in the future. I've now done ...

@DrBazUK, If you can get the ASUS BW-16D1HT cheaper than the BH16NS55 then get it. For your situation, my recommendation would be: 1. ASUS BW-16D1HT 2. BH16NS55 3. WH16NS60 The ASUS is about 20% faster than the BH16NS55. The WH16NS60 is about 1% faster than the ASUS. As you want to save money, go fo...

Yes, as per SamuriHL's instructions, this is currently the only chance you have of restoring your drive.

Re: UHD Friendly drives for sale & flashing service (currently Australia & NZ only)

Hi guys & gals, Just letting you know, I have 2 x LG BH16NS55 drives with 'UHD Friendly' firmware in stock and ready to go!!! I can also order (depending on availability) the LG BU40N with/without enclosure or the LG WH16NS60 from USA on request. These take around 3 weeks for delivery to Australia (...

How old is your drive? Does it say SVC NS50 on the label? I got the drive a while ago. Looking at the label on the drive has a Manufactured date of July 2013. The original ROM was version 1.00, but I upgraded it some time ago to 1.02. No sign of "SVC NS50" anywhere on the drive or the external case...

Re: NEW OPTION: 'UHD Friendly' Firmware Downgrade / Cross-Flash Using Official (Modified) ASUS Flasher

It could be your external adapter. I have heard of some people having issues with certain usb enclosures not passing through all commands to the drive. Perhaps your adapter is doing a similar thing? Can you give this file a try. It is the official ASUS 3.02 firmware updater (only downgrade enabled....

Re: NEW OPTION: 'UHD Friendly' Firmware Downgrade / Cross-Flash Using Official (Modified) ASUS Flasher

If I understand the instructions above, the ASUS ODD Firmware Changer (Modified) can downgrade a WH16N40 with a 1.03 firmware version to 1.02 in Windows 10 without having to boot off of a USB Stick into DOS to change the firmware? If so, is there any reason why anyone would not want to do it this w...

Re: Help is my drive compatible? Wont read uhd

Do you have any recommendations on a external UHD and libredrive capable drive? Yep, an internal drive in a USB external enclosure. Take your pick of drive. BU40N, WH16NS60, ASUS BW-16D1HT, WH16NS40, BH16NS55 I have a ASUS BW-16D1HT and LibreDrive is not enabled, any leads on how do I get it enable...

Re: LG BE14NU40 for Ripping 4K UHD

My LG BE14NU40 has no service code. It's on the original unpatched 1.00 firmware from 2012, and gives the "No Disk" error for UHD disks but does rip BDs slowly (it said the BD I set it to reading last night as I went to bed would take four hours). It did complete successfully and the copy plays thr...

That's fantastic news! Glad it's working for you and thanks for providing the info on what to do. I'm sure there are others with macOS that would need this info.

Re: NEW OPTION: 'UHD Friendly' Firmware Downgrade / Cross-Flash Using Official (Modified) ASUS Flasher

Not sure what I am doing wrong, but I get the error updating failure #3. I am using bw16d1ht at 3.03 with an external hdd adapter. I downloaded from the top link, uncompressed the folder, clicked on the exe, hit cancel, the interface came up with 3.02 firmware and my drive. My drive opens up then I...

Re: NEW OPTION: 'UHD Friendly' Firmware Downgrade / Cross-Flash Using Official (Modified) ASUS Flasher

Picked up a BW-16D1HT drive, came with the 3.02 FW revision, but appears to be the busticated one... I booted up the flash util, opted for the 3.02 firmware and hit start... How long should the drive sit there with the tray out? It spit out the tray, but hasn't retracted it for about 10 minutes now...
