If you want to use anything else (besides MakeMKV! Anydvd, or perhaps something else?) the ASUS would be the one to go for. For MakeMKV exclusively, the NS60 is the best!
Thank you. Who makes the NS60?
LG WH16NS60, which is an official UHD drive (thus a bit more expensive!)

Re: UHD drives

I decided to buy a second hand ASUS BW-16D1HT. Got it down to 10$ so worth the risk. This is just a temporary drive and I will be buying a uhd drive from one of the sellers here on the forum when I get home from vacation. So the drive is to old to support UHD, but can it still be used to rip 1080p ...

Re: LG BH16NS55 Firmware 1.04 (and possibly other new drives)

I recently suffered a catastrophic hardware loss due to SOMETHING. (new mobo, new 5tb hdd, new psu, new blu-ray drive), and got a WH16NS40 (not sure whether it's a NS40 or NS50 for the generation), but it came from MicroCenter and has the 1.04 firmware on it as well. I tried the downgrade firmware ...

Re: NEW OPTION: 'UHD Friendly' Firmware Downgrade / Cross-Flash Using Official (Modified) ASUS Flasher for ASUS & LG Dri

2) Win 10 PE? Is there a guide to this somewhere? I am really a windows noob. I don't want to dork up my wife's machine either. There was mention of a dosflasher. Is that an option? Oh boy. I should have just found a friend that had a windows machine. So it turns out Windows PE doesn't have .net? S...

Re: NEW OPTION: 'UHD Friendly' Firmware Downgrade / Cross-Flash Using Official (Modified) ASUS Flasher for ASUS & LG Dri

Is there any advice for flashing a LG WH16NS40 on Linux? I found this article (https://club.myce.com/t/help-revert-lg-wh16ns40-back-to-fw-1-02-or-crossflash/399700/61) that recommends using a flasher util: github.com/devilsclaw/flasher. However, this tool doesn't work and says "failed to get patter...

Re: Help an idiot with a 1st gen WH14NS40

I've tried following these steps as best as I can understand them, but I'm getting stuck... As with the OP, I flashed NS50 to my NS40 drive and now it can't read discs. I was able to boot into a 32bit Windows and get DOSFlash to see the drive, but I have no binary to flash to it. I downloaded what ...

Re: Dolby Vision now possible through MP4 Mux.

Does that work with .mkv files? I was under the impression that it required a full Blu Ray with BDMV folder structure intact and then converts it to a DV MP4, like DVDFab. You need either disc/iso/folder to use CloneBD That's what I thought. Guess I should get some full Blu-rays then. Also, DV does...

You could try CloneBD.

Re: SUPER SLIM DRIVE-USB 3.0 / Model Nr. ODP95-SU3

MKV-Daten.PNGHello I bought a USB3.0 4K Blu-Ray drive and now wanted to read 4K movies on my PC, but I always get an error message. Research in the forum has shown that the drive requires an update of the firmware. 1 question in the mk-firmware-pack-20190319 is in the folder BU40N-N the same revisi...

I have the option to buy a second hand ASUS BW-16D1HT with manufacture date February 2015.

Will this drive work or is it to old?
I'm pretty sure it is too old. As far as I am aware, the start date for "UHD friendly" was Oct 2015.
