100% Firmware Downgrade for ASUS BW-16D1HT and LG BH16NS55

UPDATE March 2019: Big thanks to TeddyRaspin for putting this together. The "dosflash" method described in this thread is now obsolete and is NOT recommended. Please use "official patched" flashers with "clean images" for downgrade. Patched ASUS flasher (and actual firmware packs) - https://www.mak...

Re: UHD drives

You should first dump your 1.03 firmware before downgrading.

Anyway, it can be downgraded and made UHD friendly again.

Re: UHD drives

It is always possible to do a firmware downgrade, so I wouldn't worry about which revision/firmware comes on a new LG drive.

Re: Asus BC-12D2HT

Better thing he can do is to crossflash it to other similar devices (LG).

Re: LG BH16NS55 Firmware

The Devilsclaw's flasher dumps the whole firmware except the header, which is needed to correctly
flash firmware. DOSFlash is the only tool which properly dumps the eeprom, including also header,
and this is the tool I've used to obtain the original dump of my BH16NS55.

Re: LG BH16NS55 Firmware

At last you can dump (with the R option in DOSFLASH) the Asus firmware and flash it
on the BH16NS55 in order to totally reset any LG information inside it.
Maybe in this way it could work.

I have no other ideas in my mind.

Re: LG BH16NS55 Firmware

@Teddy Raspin No, it does not come from the operating system I bought a ASUS BW-16D1HT and it works perfectly. It is the reader who is involved. Ok, but it is very strange. The erase option of DOSFLASH (under pure DOS) totally erases the eeprom and if you write the 1.01 or 1.02 dump it writes the e...

Re: LG BH16NS55 Firmware

Try to load a WIN PE version, in order to see if it is an OS issue or not.

It is very strange that even after reflashing the whole eeprom you still have such issues. :(

Re: LG BH16NS55 Firmware

Here is a 1.01 BH16NS55 full dump I made from my original device which has always
worked on several similar devices (BH16NS55/Asus of other users).

Try it. (Of course you MUST use the DOSFLASH version I provided you, erasing eeprom first, and then writing the new firmware).

Re: Asus BW-16D1HT Firmware

@TeddyRaspin I tried your method it still does not work. Another solution? Did you try first MakeMKV hashed keyfile ? According to the log you posted, you're using an old AnyDVD HD version. Disc ID hash is calculated by software. It has nothing to do with firmware device, as any UHD disc has its ow...
