Is there a flashing tool specifically for the WH14NS40? I've got a guy with one that's firmware 1.04 and any firmware he throws at it results in an error 5.
I've sent him the flasher and the firmware I use on a daily basis still no dice.
It must be the drive now that I think about it but how?

Did you try cleaning the disc?
Did you try the disc in another drive?

Is this going to be an issue for drive lifetime, in which case this should be a user-selectable feature? I suggested this the other day as well. You didn’t happen to grab a dump of the 1.00 firmware did you? Definitely don’t toss the carcass that thing is a piece of history.
